The Brooklyn Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are fortunate to be a part of the incredible cultural renaissance Brooklyn has enjoyed during the last quarter century. Four great Brooklyn artists whom we met along the way—Fred Tomaselli, Roxy Paine, Joe Amhrein and Elizabeth Crawford—have created special labels for our Silver Anniversary Lager beer. We are saluting our beginnings with a special doppelbock version of the Brooklyn Lager we introduced in 1988. This beer is re-fermented in the bottle and will taste great today or years from now. The original was inspired by the beers of 19th Century New York and Vienna.

Very lagerish smell of malt, yeast, caramel, bread and alcohol. I can see the similarities to Brooklyn already. Taste is not as sweet after the first sip. It has a medium body, chewy texture, mild bitterness and alcohol is disguised quite well. It’s hard to keep track, it is changing a lot throughout the session. But it ends semi-sweet and veryyyy smooth.

Bottle @ Yespr. Pours hazy golden/orange with a lasting. small white creamy head. Aroma is hoppy - grassy citrus, flowery, light malts, caramel. Taste is moderate sweet, light+ bitter. Body is light+, texture is oily, carbonation is soft+. Finishes light sweet with light herbal bitterness. Plain and a tad too sweet.

On tap at The Rake Borough Market. Hazy amber colour lasting cream head. American hop aroma. Incredibly smooth and gorgeous and utterly wonderful. Wow. No sign of the alcohol. Just a beautiful toffee grapefruit drink. Amazing. Fresh as well. No oxidised hop. Wow. Pretty good.

0,75 flaske på Sigmunds hytte, delt med gode rbhd-venner april-14: aroma av malt, alkohol, appelsin og humle. Fint varig skum. Fyrig kropp som varmer helt ned i lilletåa. Jammen bra at vi er fire om denne flasken, ellers hadde jeg lett drukket hele på egen hånd. Omdreiningshastigheten er 8,6 - beware!

Clear amber. Dense off-white head. Hoppy aroma with bitter oranges. Perhaps a slight hint of lambic. Similarly hoppy taste. Too hoppy, too pale and too little sweetness for a doppelbock. However, it is still a good and hoppy lager in its own right. The high alcohol percentage is not evident in taste.

Shared bottle at local tasting. Pours almost clear dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malts, spices and orange, inviting & promising. Taste is light dry, fruity with some weak orange and citrussy hops, tasty and a good beer, very well hidden alcohol.

Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. ABV is 8.6%. Orange to amber colour, off-white head. Pleasant aroma of dried fruits, grapes and malts. Warming mouthfeel. Medium sweet, decent malts, hints of spicy grapes and oranges, quite well hopped. The alcohol is noticeable, but not disturbing. A beer I’d buy again.

75cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian - thanks! Pours slightly hazy caramel coloured with a white head. Medium malty with caramel, slightly fruity and medium hoppy aroma. Medium sweet with malty flavours and a noticable bitterness. Quite decent, but not my style.
