COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Brooklyn Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are fortunate to be a part of the incredible cultural renaissance Brooklyn has enjoyed during the last quarter century. Four great Brooklyn artists whom we met along the way—Fred Tomaselli, Roxy Paine, Joe Amhrein and Elizabeth Crawford—have created special labels for our Silver Anniversary Lager beer. We are saluting our beginnings with a special doppelbock version of the Brooklyn Lager we introduced in 1988. This beer is re-fermented in the bottle and will taste great today or years from now. The original was inspired by the beers of 19th Century New York and Vienna.

NYE bottle share at Proof. Pours a perfect light amber brown. Really good amount of cream colored head. Head and collar last really well. Aroma is biscuity, caramel and some floral hops. Taste is wonderfully the same. Well balanced and delicious. Great medium body and carbonation.

Pour@5e Mondial de la Bière, Mulhouse. Pours kellertrüb. Apricot marmelade in aroma and taste, counterbalanced by a fair amount of green floral hop, a distinct New World touch. Smoothly textured, easy drinking for a Bock.

Cheers to Brooklyn. Pours a clear copper with a lovely pillow head. Aroma is noble hops and caramel malts. Flavor is a dead on match. Really is sort of a souped up version of the usual Brooklyn Lager. Not cloyingly sweet like many doppelbocks, I actually enjoyed this. The caramel malts were perhaps even a touch in the background of the floral hops. Nicely done.

Transfer from BA review on 4-7-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer was served a clear brownish-amber color with a one finger white head. The head had a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to give a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a caramel sweetness and a bit of breadlines. Mixed with these aromas are some smells of some lighter fruits of apple and pear as well as a bit of orange as well as a grapefruit hop. Taste – The taste actually follows the nose quite well. It begins with a sweet caramel and malty taste. As the taste advances, more sweet flavors of a more toffee flavor as well as a light fruit flavor of apple pear comes to the tongue. The sweeter flavors of caramel and toffee dwindles some from the middle to the end where a light citrus hop flavors of a grapefruit nature meets the tongue. In the end, with a bit of an earthy flavor mixing with the rest, a somewhat crisp and bready flavor is left to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the brew is on the medium to slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is on the average to just below average side. Both are rather nice for the more malty tastes of the brew as well as for still allowing it to be fairly easy drinking, but not too easy drinking brew at its 8.6 % abv (which it hidden quite well). Overall – A tasty and more malty/bready doppelbock with a nice easy drinking and rather smooth flavor profile.

Bottle from the brewery. Pretty amber-orange, cloudy, lovely head. Caramel, peaches, dried fruit aromas. Fruity and somewhat ale-like, nice bitterness, hops present, more than usual. A bit light. Not a big, thick doppelbock, but a nice new take on the style that is quite enjoyable. Fun beer.

Sample at Haand Festival 2014. Dark copper body with a moderate offwhite head. Grassy aroma with toast notes and flowers. Taste of caramel, bread, faint hops. Sweet malty finish. I find the taste a bit weak for a doppelbock.

750ml bottle, 8.6 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo, shared with friends. Fair off-white head leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Clear copper coloured body. Smell of herbal hops, pale malts and dried fruits. Balanced taste of cocoa, juicy malts and dried fruits. Hidden alcohol. Soft carbonated. Fine bodied. Pleasant lager, indeed (Tromsø 23.08.2014).

Flaske 750ml spandert av Rune under sammenkomst hjemme hos ham 23 Aug 14. Mørk gylden. Uklar. Lavt tett skum. Aroma av søt frukt & karamell. Smaken er behagelig krydret med malt som bakgrunn. Svakt syrlig ettersmak.

750ml->willibecher. Hazy deep copper with thick creamy offwhite head. A: caramel malt, dried fruits, grains, brown sugar. T: sweet malt, figs, bread, notes of zesty citrus peel. A bit xerostomic. Decent.

0.75l corked bottle. Pouring this in the glass it quickly tells me that this is quite a malty one based on the aroma. Fills the area with a not excactly unrecognizable malty sweet caramel aroma. It looks nice with a deep amber almost bronze looking cloudy body and it has a good looking really lacing beige lasting head. Nutty and really super malty nose. A ton of caramel with red berries and some ripe fruits. It smells quite good this. Tastes alright as well. It’s a bit lighter in the mouth than what I was expecting/hoping, the carbonation is just above average. Again quite Mallard nutty flavors. Slightly sticky and even a little alcoholic or boozy if you’d like. Malt drops and bread with hints of metal and licorice. Boozy burp on this one. Yeah, it’s a decent one, but still not completely what I want in these kind of beers. 16.04.2014

750 ml bottle. Hazy amber with off-white head. Smell is sweet malt and floral and fruity hoppiness. Taste is sweet with raisin, bready and fruity maltiness and floral fruity hop. Well balanced with medium bitterness and medium carbonation.
