Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, a cracklingly dry, hoppy unfiltered golden farmhouse ale, but featuring rare Sorachi Ace hop.Fermented with our special Belgian ale strain, we add Sorachi Ace hops post-fermentation. After 100% bottle re-fermentation with Champagne yeast, the beer emerges with a bright spicy lemon zest aroma. It tastes like sunshine in a glass, and that suits us just fine, especially with seafood dishes and fresh cheeses.

May have caught a bad bottle..... Almost flat with no head at all and almost no aroma, just hints of lemon peel and coriander with lots of breadiness, Hazy light gold color. Very drinkable, however, even with the aforementioned issues...May have to re-rate.

Draught at Lulus, 1/15/16.
Lightly hazy goldenrod/waxen yellow beer with a modest white head that sits at cover.
Honey, white bread, lemon and sweet white pepper notes all give way to a melon-like note that seems to dominate. A touch of vanilla, a bit of Belgian character (very light esters and phenols) and a touch more peach fruitiness. Fruity, but very insipid and with nothing compelling whatsoever, despite nothing terribly bad going on here. No alcohol noted.
Flavor is again full of melon, light citrus, fresh cut grass and flowers. There’s a very simple, somewhat boring sweetness and absolutely no variation to the maltiness. Vaguely catty at times, with a touch of mustiness. Light, somewhat hard carbonation and a watery, bready-malty texture. Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is not a classic saison. I don’t know what the hell it is trying to be, but it’s definitely not that. Maybe this is a good deal better in the bottle? I don’t know, no aspects seem particularly well-done here.
