COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, a cracklingly dry, hoppy unfiltered golden farmhouse ale, but featuring rare Sorachi Ace hop.Fermented with our special Belgian ale strain, we add Sorachi Ace hops post-fermentation. After 100% bottle re-fermentation with Champagne yeast, the beer emerges with a bright spicy lemon zest aroma. It tastes like sunshine in a glass, and that suits us just fine, especially with seafood dishes and fresh cheeses.

There was a lot of smoke when I popped the cork off. The beer is a hazy golden color with a thick soapy white head that dissipates pretty quick but left some lacing around the glass. The aroma is citrusy, lemon peel, wet hay, and wheat. The taste is citrusy up front and some lemon peel is noticed as well but I also pick up some hops in there as well. There is some bitterness in there but it is pretty mellow. I can pick up some yeast in the flavor as well and there is some minimal spices I can pick up as well. The aftertaste is bready and pepper.

Bottle - Cloudy yellow with medium chunky head. Lots of carbonation. Has a sweet aroma and spicy lemon peel taste. Dry but not all that bitter. Pretty good.

12oz bottle from Wegmans, Buffalo, NY. A hazy orange pour with a ring of white head; citrusy aroma with some yeast; sharp herbal bitter taste with a sweet grainy body; and some sweet lemony citrus to finish. Rather unbalanced and not something I’d come back to.

12 oz. and 750 mL bottles from The Hop Yard, Raleigh, NC. Both pour dark orange with a white head but the 750 pours a much frothier head. Barnyard is more present in the aroma of the 750 with the 12 oz. bottle offering more lemon zest. Taste is similar in both versions with white peppercorns, citrus, hay, and Earth noted. Finish is clean. Overall a great saison. The 750 is more pronounced in both aroma and flavor and would be the preferred vessel to purchase this beer. My overall score is based on the 750 version.

Bottle. Aroma of light spice, biscuit, light fruits. Very refreshing. Really easy to drink, goes great with food. Taste is a little bit of the spice, refreshing citrus flavours. Nice stuff, not necessarily worth the price but it does come in a fancy bottle.

So after years of seeing this only available in bombers I finally find it in a 12 ounce bottle. Here goes nothing:wheatgrass wheatgrass wheatgrass. It certainly did not help that I just had some really spicy Indian food before this. But I’m a chief. Hints of citrus. Yes, this is tasty, but I do not think this is 98th percentile tasty. With the name Sorachi, I expected something super spicy.

bottle. Golden with one finger head. Moderately hopped saison with strong carbonation. Very nice sorachi flavors with mild Belgian spice. Excellent.
