750 ml corked and caged bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy straw gold color with a couple inch frothy white head. Head retention is excellent, with a decent amount of lacing too. Aroma is herbal and spicy hops, and some lemon peel. The taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, but there’s the addition of some grain/bready malt and peppery spice. There’s also a lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium with high but soft carbonation. The soft carbonation works great for this brew and makes it smooth and easy to drink. A pretty enjoyable brew overall, Brooklyn has a winner with this one!

Low marks on the nose, ’cause there was not alot going on there, but everything else was nearly perfect. A head that looked like it would float a coin. Smooth palate with the perfect dryness.

750 ml bottle from Spirits Red Bank. Poured an okay looking chill hazed light golden straw colored body underneath a large bubbly white head. Aroma is intriguing to say the least...yeast, pepper, spruce needles, citrus, and a bit of funk. The body is medium to fuller with a slightly dry finish and slightly bubbly carbonation. Flavors of funk, spice, spruce, citrus, white pepper and yeast. Really interesting beer that I thoroughly enjoyed.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hopper (812) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - JUL 6, 2010
$12.99/ 750 ml. Central Market. San Antonio, TX. I really like this bottles presentation with the Ace card, looks cool. A slightly cloudy light golden yellow beer with a huge billowing head that slowly fades. The aroma is yeast, pepper, citrus. The taste is very light, grainy, and the yeast prickles the tongue and seems to add some bitter qualities. A nice clean refreshing saison perfect for the summer. Too bad its so damn expensive.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 slimchill (1044) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 3, 2010
Bottle. Aroma is pungent spiciness with peach and apricot fruit notes, along with tangerine, lemon, and a distinct funkiness without invoking any impression of bacterial or brettanomyces infection. Pours cloudy yellow with intensely active carbonation to a short lived fluffy white head. Flavor is an absolutely beautiful balance of spicy, funky, and dry. An absolute exclamation of everything that is saison. A vague pungent funkiness wraps around black pepper and coriander. Fruit is there, but not overwhelmingly expressive. Peaches and tangerines are all over the place. Everything is subtle but fully available. This needs to be in the BJCP guidelines as an example of a saison, because it may very well be the most exact example of the style.
