COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, a cracklingly dry, hoppy unfiltered golden farmhouse ale, but featuring rare Sorachi Ace hop.Fermented with our special Belgian ale strain, we add Sorachi Ace hops post-fermentation. After 100% bottle re-fermentation with Champagne yeast, the beer emerges with a bright spicy lemon zest aroma. It tastes like sunshine in a glass, and that suits us just fine, especially with seafood dishes and fresh cheeses.

Bottle (750 ml). Clear golden with a medium mostly lasting white head and good lacing. Aroma is yeasty with orange/citrus, bubblegum and herbal notes. Taste is of slightly sweet and quite fruity (mostly citrus) along with floral notes and bubblegum again. Medium body. Good carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Well crafted, but not my favorite Saison. Maybe my bottle was too old or I just don’t like Sorachi Ace hops.

Slowbeer ontap (29-Nov-13) Spicy savoury citrus lemonade aroma. Yellow amber colour, good head and fluffy lacing. Lemonade spicy savoury herbal flavour. Big savoury herbal lemon finish that pulls thru to the aftertaste.

Lemon and green tea aroma. Nice head size when pouring but does not last long leaving a small ring. Color is a yellow haze.Taste is dry with a medium bitterness that stays long in the back. Medium body with low carbonation. A long bitterness with a bad feeling. I like the aroma of the Sorachi Ace hop but not the taste of the bitterness. Ok beer but not enough for a second try. ;-(

Seeing this bottle gives me high expectations. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet these expectations. "Thin" and "spineless". Quite dull. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml. Lightly hazy golden body is very active and supports a quarter inch head on top. Nose is a pleasant mix of resin, toast, funky grape must, spun honey, dank green herb and citrus zest. Tastes of resin, lemongrass, menthol, citrus zest and honey. Light-medium body is nicely dry, but way too fizzy with carbonation. Nice for a white wine cooler, but a bit too much with the spritz and minty lemon to be a great saison.

Cloudy yellow with a small white head. Fruity and hoppy tones. Malt, citrus and hops. Medium to full body with a nice bitter sweet finish.

Cloudy straw colored beer with a foamy white head that sets up in peaks. Subtle nose of lemon, grains of paradise, and slightly sour yeast. Flavor is bright lemon with layers of spice that quickly subside into a mild bitterness--it really seems like a lemon was squeezed into the beer. This is an easy drinking brew, but not one that is boring or lacking flavor. I enjoyed it and would definitely drink again.

FROM NOTES: July 23, ’12 Poured from a bottle into a Spiegelau glass. A: Initially of spicy yeast, peppercorns, and clove with hints of straw malt and lemongrass. Hops are really light and alcohol is not detected. A: Pours a hazy dark golden yellow to golden orange in color with a three finger tall off-white head that slowly reduces to a thick film over the entire surface of the beer. Significant amounts of lacing are observed. T: Light to moderate amounts of lemon citrus sourness along with some earthy/hay hop bitterness. There is an underlying sweetness with some spicy yeast flavors. P: Light to medium body and moderate to high carbonation. O: This beer is all about balance (not intensity) . A delicate beer from Garrett Oliver and Brooklyn Brewery. My first time around with Sorachi Ace hops and I like them!
