4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
THOUGHTS: Nice and lemony. The sorachi ace is a very interesting hops. There was something more to it than just the lemon, especially in the aroma. It reminded me of a saison version of Duvel. The lemon was almost a little overpowering. Sometimes, to me, lemon water ice eventually tastes a little soapy and this bordered on that, but kept from getting annoying. A great beer, but a little pricey. Iím wondering if blending some Duvel and Saison Dupont could get me something close on the cheap. This makes me think my next homebrew might be a saison. It is a style that Iíve never really appreciated because it is not clearly defined, but I started to gain an appreciation for it this summer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, very dark yellow to light orange with a huge, rocky, somewhat meringue-like, white head that left fair to good lacing. The aroma had light to moderate, light bread and biscuit; moderate to heavy, floral and lemony hops; moderate yeast; some spice and underlying peach pear of plum. The initial flavor was slightly sweet, rather acidic and lightly bitter; while the finish was sweet, acidic and bitter. There was lemon, peach, doughy yeast, biscuit, more lemon, and slight spice that may have just been the carbonation. Overall, the flavor had a nice balance to it. The light to medium body was very dry with very fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly metallic finish.

Poured a cloudy golden hue with a thick white head. Barnyard aromas, some grassy hops and a slight astringency on the nose. Flavor profile had good malt notes, some lemon notes and some bread notes. A yeast quality. Hops seemed different. It had an odd bitterness that seemed to offset the malts. A nice carbonation.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The beautiful aroma of sweet and floral notes with soft earthiness like a spring morning. It pours bright golden and thick with a big beautiful creamy head. The body is medium and smooth with subtle sweet and spice that tingles on the mouth from the champagne yeast.

Wholly crap the cork just dented the roof when in it exploded of the bottle. Brew looks hazy gold with a massive cap. Sweet sour, vanilla, lemon, honey floral aroma, this shit smells good! Wow Iíve never smelt a beer like this before. Taste is the awesome yeasty, wheat malt thatís has a creamcicle like taste. A yummy and unique herbal hop shows up in the finish. Oh man I love this beer!!! I swear the citrus vanilla flavor starts to turn into a mint vanilla, so very good. What a great beer Iím so glad Gully shared it with me.

Excited to try this one-seeing as I like Local 1 so much.
A-Body is a quite pale, nearly transparent golden yellow hue. Pours with a frothing, foamy 3 finger+ foamy white head. Head eventually subsides to 1 finger and has perfect retention from there. Some lacing is left behind in the glass.
N-Nose is rather mild with a floral hop accent-but there is a lot of citrus presence as well-orange peel, lemon zest and maybe a hint of grapefruit. Below this is a hint of grain and yeast funk.
T-Taste is similar to the smell. The cirtus characteristics come forward the most initially with a slight funky background. The finish is refreshing and dry with a good dose of floral hop flavor and bitterness as well as a hint of peppery spice.
P- High tingly carbonation and a lightweight, yet full somewhat spritzy body with a hint of juicy consistency.
O- Overall this is a great, hoppy, slightly dry, enjoyable saison. ABV is pushing 8% but is not noticable at all throughout the profile. Garret Oliver shows here for a second time that he really knows how to make a great saison/pale belgian ale.
