Brooklyn Sorachi Ace is a classic saison, a cracklingly dry, hoppy unfiltered golden farmhouse ale, but featuring rare Sorachi Ace hop.Fermented with our special Belgian ale strain, we add Sorachi Ace hops post-fermentation. After 100% bottle re-fermentation with Champagne yeast, the beer emerges with a bright spicy lemon zest aroma. It tastes like sunshine in a glass, and that suits us just fine, especially with seafood dishes and fresh cheeses.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2012 Rerate on 2/26/2012. The aroma is fruity, pepper, wheat, cereal grains, lemon. The appearance is a hazy yellow, white head. The flavor is the same as the aroma, fruity, pepper, grainy, lemony. The finish is a citrus/lemon bittering. Medium/thin in body. Decent.

750ml bottle. Pours hazy yellow with massive head that takes days to recede. Nose of tea leaves, soap and barnyard, with some lemon. Lively on the palate with a real funky note and a drying quality.

Bottle, shared with the "United Norwegian Beer Bloggers’ Table" @ Brooklyn Brewery tasting in Oslo, May 2010. Slightly hazy orange body, massive foamy white head. This is pretty much as good as a saison can look in a snifter. :-) Aroma is Belgian ale yeast, candy sugars, citrus, grapes and champagne yeast. Taste is very dry, with grapes, bitter grassy hops, champagne yeast again and a bit of baker’s yeast in the aftertaste. Palate is smooth, light, fresh and dry. A very refreshing and nice saison.

Pours golden yellow with a white foamy head. Wild barnyard aroma, slight malty sweetness, and lightly citrus. Sweet and somewhat sour flavor. Bitter palate, thin texture, long finish.

Appearance: Pours a murky dark yellow gold with a big fluffy white head that subsides to nothing over time.

Aroma: Big fruity nose, orange zest, white wine, large herbal hop bouquet.

Taste: Bitter spicy hops. Dry pale malt. Fruity yeast. Finishes crisp and bitter.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied, a little on the heavy side with moderate carbonation.

Overall: An enjoyable Saison on the big side of both flavor and body.

Nice fresh taste. Bursting with spicy, bready with a full mouth and tastes of citrus, malt and a smooth dry finish. Very good product and a new hop to boot!

Bottle @ Avenue Pub: Pours a hazy gold color with a huge white head. The nose is fresh and hoppy with a light peppery yeast and wheat notes. The sorachi ace is good, fresh and piney, but it doesn’t have much punch to it in the background, more like a garnish than a brewing hop. Good underlying saison and they pair together very well.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow/gold, thick white head, lovely lacing. Nose is perfumed - cold cream, lemon, sherbet, meringue, goddamn this smells great. Flavours of fresh cream, spicy lemongrass, cold cream, sherbet, lovely florals! This is a pretty epic brew. Almost on the same level as some of the Hill Farmstead stuff.

Cloudy blond color; medium sized head. The aroma is fruity and very refreshing, playing on tropical fruits and a dash of citrus fruits (bergamot...); also a light touch of rose water. Highly carbonated and smooth, the Saison flavor is pleasant, mild, without a too strong character, and it allows to the noble hop to mark its presence, with similar remarks as for the aroma. Extremely balanced, refreshing, and very pleasant.
