3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pleasant aroma of lemony hops with a rustic, farmhouse presence and peppery yeast. Pours a clear golden color with a thick, frothy white head. The flavor is really solid, the Sorachi Ace hops provide a nice lemony presence that goes well with the saison’s rustic, peppery, yeasty side, there’s mild bitterness in the end. The body is light to medium with a slightly creamy texture and lively carbonation. This is quite solid, I’ll look forward to trying other saisons with Sorachi Ace hops.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.355 l bottle from local Gall & Gall (and not the ridiciously overpriced one imported to Germany by Braufactum), 7.2 % abv, bottled in march 2015 (almost six months old). Clear, pale golden yellow with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Weak, grassy-fruity aroma of lemon, grapefruit and straw. Weak, sweetish, grassy-fruity aroma of lemon, grapefruit and straw, followed by a slightly bitter, grassy finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not really impressive, is probably already past his hop prime. Still refreshing and tasty but rather mild. Sad.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a golden color with a citrus champagne like aroma. Taste is light, lemon zest, and easy drinking. More bubbly and champagne like. Dry, and grassy, typical of the style.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a golden color with generous foamy off-white head. Aroma is hoppy with spices. A bit of tropical fruit in the flavor along with a touch of bitterness and spices. Really well balanced. Light to medium bodied with creamy texture. Quite good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a soft hazy burnt pale orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Lacing slid into the beer.
The smell started off with some zesty lemon pulp and rind leading into nice sweet lemongrass tones. Some peppercorn helps to balance in a nice spicy sort of way. The Belgian yeast helps to add a light little bit of breadiness as it warms.
The taste offers the nice zesty appeal flowing over the sweet and spiciness of the previously mentioned flavors. A dry citrusy aftertaste leads into a sweet dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. Carbonation rises softly allowing the bitterness of the citrus rind being the harshness on my tongue.
Overall, I actually went into this with low expectations, and it turned out better than I had thought. I’d have this again.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
355 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Malt Attacks. BBF 06/04/2016. Light hazy pale lemon, ginger golden. Little white head. Nose is that blue cheese Sorachi Ace hop smell that I love so much, intense, spices, lemon, light ginger, touch floral, above everything, intense blue cheese, I love Sorachi Ace so much, this right here is it, damn. Taste is a bit more on the floral side unfortunately & less blue cheese, strong grass & floral bitterness, wine gums, juicy lemon, light ginger, lemon, orange peel, I would love to try a dark version / DIPA version so much of this one, very juicy, light touch of grapefruit, touch cantaloupe, touch of milt almost,… As much as I love this one with a touch more blue cheese this would be just perfect for me. Light sparkling, touch of booze. Almost vaguely reminiscent of Duvel but better for sure. This one I would love to buy all of the time. So close to what I love. This one has been a want of mine for many years & it is better than I expected. Wow, I wish this one was sold in supermarkets here. I was debating between 4.8 & 4.9 for this but it is just so drinkable – I can actually see this becoming a staple if distributed locally which is something I feel very rarely about any beer (we get Brooklyn Lager now so who knows) – it does serve a 4.9/5 as far as I am concerned.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours clear yellow/golden with a small white head and lots of carbonation. Aroma of citrus, malt, staw, herbs, yeast. Taste is weak/medium bitterness, fresh, weak sweetness, citrus, long lasting, grassy notes, hay, very drinkable when chilled, floral, nice summer beer, should have had a bit less alcohol abv.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2015 Pours cloudy straw yellow with smallish white head that leaves some lacing.
Aroma when chilled is standard pine-citrus cleaning product, with underlying sweet malt; improves as it warms, adding buttermilk and honeyed note.
On the palate, peppery pine gives way to strong menthol, almost camphor, before honey then pepper come through again. Very dry, and 7.2 percent ABV seems high for the light-medium body.
