Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

(Brooklyn Summer Ale) Tap at Cafe Samson, Nijmegen. ABV 6% Clear body, orange in colour, with one finger of white head on top, thick and with good retention. Sweet aroma, milk-like, old grass, grains. Taste also of grains, toffee, some iron. Medium thin body, soft carbonation. Nothing special and nothing summery about it.

I had it from the bottle. The taste was a nice balance of hops, bread, and malty sweetness. It was smooth but still had enough refreshing crispness to be a good summer beer.

Keg at the Princess of Wales, Blackheath. Gold pour with a white head. Citrus fruit and peach aroma. Flavours of grapefruit and light spice. Quenches the old thirst on a scorching summerís day.

Köpt på Harrys, Mariatorget. Stor besvikelse, har för mig att denna var mycket bättre för några år sedan. Inte mycket smak, mest malt, känns avslagen redan från början. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. This is really better listed as a bitter to me but whatever. Itís got english malt and yeast with very little hopping. Iím surprised to see amarillo and cascade listed, my guess is that is no longer what is used. Itís so under hopped (my guess is low levels of English hops) that you mostly taste unfermented wort. Oddly enough I once made a bitter that tasted very similar to this. Not very well done.

Golden color with a fine white head. Lovely hoppy and light fruity aroma. Fresh hoppy and citric flavour. Makes summer a lot better :-))

Pours strawberry blond with small amount of head that disappears fast. Slight hoppy aromas. Little bready. Light flavors for an ale. Just ok.
