Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 4/20/09

Aroma: Fairly bready, some citrus, a little floral, a small amount of honey
Appearance: Clear yellow color, thin head
Flavor: Light malty flavor, a little sweetness, but nothing to strong
Palate: Light body, pretty boring mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This beer is nothing special, pretty typical of a light summer ale, type of thing that can be refreshing, but isn’t going to do too much for the taste buds.
**Update: Just found an old rating of this one from 8/08 where I had given it the exact same score...at least I’m consistent.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano. Pours a very light amber with white head. Aroma of pecan pie, malt, some fruit, Flavor is kinda weak, some light malt, some light citrus blended with light sweet malt, a very small tang as well. Mouth feel is light-medium, pretty watery with high carbonation. Overall, on a summer day by the pool, would be pretty refreshing.

Pours a honey color with a nice head, leaves some good lacing. Taste is a Bit like a light bread light hops and has a dry finish. Nice, mild and refreshing. This is a nice beer to have on a nice hot day, with spicy Mexican food, or after a long bike ride.

Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, biscuit, very bready. This is a super clean light tasting beer with a very crisp mouthfeel. There’s a little clove kick at the end, but not unpleasant. This would be a fantastic session beer.

Bottle marked as best before 9/2009. Pours with a clear golden body. and a small white head that fades. Aroma of hops, fruits, a wheat like astringency, and a bit grassy. Taste is bready and fruity. Fizzy mouthfeel...very fizzy.
