Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Not the best brooklyn beer out there, but still refreshing on a summertime afternoon. I squeeze a lemon in mine and drink up.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker. Poured a clear dark gold color with a two finger bubbly head. Aroma was citrus hops, with some malt. Flavor had the same citrus notes. Light-medium bodied with good carbonation. Good summer beer.

Bottle 12 fl oz
Appearance: Light amber with touch of gold , medium semi dense top.
Nose: Neat citric hoppy aroma with matching sweet malts. Good refreshing flowery aromatic nose closing.7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied ale . Soft with oily character. Hoppy citric character is well carried till finish. Quiet refreshing formula for summer ale. Good premium bitter.

In short: A clean refreshing blonde ale (tap version at least).
How: Tap at Spuyten Duyvil NYC
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a small but long-lasting white head
In long: A simple malt backbone with a fair amount of cereals bringing body without sweet flavours (a good thing for that kind of beer). Moderately hoppy with lemony and citrusy hops. Pleasant tartness. Light lemongrass sensation. Not very tasty or original but an overall fresh sensation (tap version at least) made for a refreshing and summer ale thirst quencher. And when you get your butt frozen by the awful winters we get up here it’s always nice to be able to sit down during a summer day and enjoy a simple thirst quencher like this while complaining that it’s way too hot outside.

12 oz bottle generously sent to my by Thaichile. Pour is hazed straw golden with a fluffy 2 inch white head. Head falls slowly, leaving behind decent lacing. Aroma of grass, straw, citrus and malt. Some Parmesan cheesiness in there as well. Interesting nose. Taste is grainy hay up front, some some citrus mid palate and the grassy earthiness in the end. There is also a bit of metallic mixed in throughout. Palate is medium, above average carbonation with a fairly long hay / straw aftertaste. Nice easy drinking brew, with nicely integrated and varied flavors. Thanks Mark.

Pours a golden color with a small and quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma was faintly floral and faintly grassy hops. Taste is roughly the same - this beer is very light on the palate. Finish is smooth but there’s a slightly metallic aftertaste, which is a major squick for me. It’s a refreshing quencher for the summertime, but it’s not something I’d seek out on a regular basis.

Crisp pale malt base, floral green leafy hop character, marred only by a slightly metallic finish.
