Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Clear straight, not very bright golden pour. Initially beautiful white head quickly vanishes completely, leaving a highly effervescent liquid in the glass. Fresh malt aroma immediately evokes fresh bread. Minimal citrusy hop notions provide very little bitterness. Not necessarily very sweet, but definitely on the malty side of things. A very soft malt profile aimed fits the summer allusions very well. Medium bodied, gentle carbonation. Clean and very easy to drink, but not fun or remarkable enough to want another and another like the top English examples.

355 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a decent white head. Light, refreshing, floral aroma with notes of hops. Flavor is rather light, refreshing, fruity and some floral bitterness. Quite light and very quaffable.

Clear deep golden color with a nice rocky white head that yields some spotty lacing. Aroma is lemons, malty and overall a fresh scent, but in a good way. Wheaty and malty taste with citrus and hops on the back end with a bit of zest to it. Pretty full for a lighter beer. A crisp and refreshing summer beer and a nice break from the stronger Ales.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark amber color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma was sweet citrus and pepper. The flavor was dry, bready, wheaty and had a notes of citrus and spice. Moderately long lemon pepper finish. Medium body.

(bottle) A pale amber body with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma smells of pale malt, barley, grass, bread, and floral. Flavor is sweet, barley, bread, and floral honey notes. It has a refreshing crispness to it. Light carbonation, light body.

Pours golden with a few larger bubbles and a smaller white head. Aroma of honey and biscuity sweet malts. Flavor isn’t particularly interesting; honey overtop of sweet malts, biscuit and caramel. My least favorite from Brooklyn by far.

Not really a fan. Pours a beautiful gold color with a thick, rocky head. Flavor however is lacking, and what flavor there is is of sweet malts, but somewhat too sweet. Probably wouldn’t pick up again.
