Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Good solid summer ale, refreshing not a horrible beer but I’m glad I didn’t have a full six pack on it. Would not buy again

Columbia, SC - Total Wines - 12 oz bottle. Pours a light golden and sparkling with a long lasting clingy white head. Spicy aroma with hints of butter. Flavor has some spiciness to it as well - some coriander, a bit of grains of paradise and a hint of lemon. A pleasant buttery flavor of bitter lemon. permeates through out. Mouthfeel has just enough spritziness for a summer beer. One of the better blonde ales I have had.

Pours a clear gold in color with a nice, pillowy two inches of head. Smell is lemon zest and light, crisp malt. There is some definite lemon in the taste. Bubbly and biting on the mouthfeel. Not a bad summer ale. Looking for something to stand out, but it’s not there.

On tap. Aroma sweet malt, light fruits (lemon), light grassy hops. Flavor all fruity goodness, the lemons (very zesty), maybe some other slight citrus, strawberries, light cherry and raspberry. Quite tasty. 7-4-8-4-14/3.7

Rerate 8/8/08 On tap. Aroma weak pale malt, flavor equally weak with light sweet/citrusy character. Bland, watery. 5-3-5-3-11/2.7 (Ratings averaged)

On tap at the local bar. Pours amber with a small white head. Surprisingly hoppy (floral) with a wheaty sweet malt that balanced well with the hops. One of the better summer ales I’ve had and quite underrated on this site. Reminds me of SNPA just a little less hoppy. Good beer, quite drinkable.

Admittedly, I had this beer much too late into an evening, but it rubbed me the wrong way. This is a unique summer beer, and I’d like to give it another shot at some point. My initial reaction, though, was that it had too much of a bubble gum flavor and not enough of a bready/citrusy/lemony summer flavor. Couldn’t shake that bubble gum.

Slight hint of hops and yeast in the aroma. Pours a clear amber with a white head that quickly fades away. Slight biscuit flavor, touch of citrus hops to balance it out. Nothing extraordinary, but very drinkable.

Very clear, lightly golden. Malty and hoppy gave it a good mouthfeel on the palate.A good summer ale different from the others. Found the beer to be quite uninteresting.
