Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

On tap at TJ FInley’s in NY. I thought this was a decent beer. Not much to speak of on the aroma, but it smelled of light malts. The taste was citrusy, and I thought I picked up on a taste of grapefruit. I will say I had this after a few, and it went down very easily. I will probably have this a few more times this summer.

Blah. A very bland and boring golden ale. This style is not known for being very exciting to begin with, but this is worse than average. Very faint chalk aroma. Pour was a nice light gold with a 2 finger white head. Taste was very bland. Tasted like dirty carbonated water with a hint of of grass. Not very enjoyable but ice cold and in the outdoors would beat a B/M/C.

Smooth and subtle in taste. Slight citrus flavor lingers for a short time. Great beer for a bbq in the summertime.

bottle. pours a golden body with a white head. Aroma is sweet malt and some earthy floral scents from the hops. Flavor is light and crisp, a subtle hop character, and light malt flavor. no etoh.

Good break from the usual styles of summer seasonal beers. This is a lightly complex, tasty ale. Light, airy biscuit aroma with fresh nuts and plenty of floral/grassy hop notes. Clear golden copper color with a lasting 1/2" white head. Moderate lacing and tight carbonation. The body is malty, but not too heavy with a complimenting bitterness. Drinkable to boot, this could be enjoyable throughout a warm weekend. Fresh, doughy malt flavor backed up by some nuts and caramel. Light, spicy, grainy flavors balanced out by noble hops along with a touch of citrus. The flavors are all mixed together in a nice subtle fashion. Well done Brooklyn for a seasonal that is off the beaten path.

From a bottle poured a light amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice light refreshing flavor with a quick finish.

Crisp clear golden coloured body with a nice large slightly off-white head. Aroma of fresh light a.a. hops, malt, sugar and a bit of bread. Light-bodied; Strong malty flavour up front with some hops and a floral taste. Aftertaste shows some character with more malt than anything else, along with a slight bit of perfume. Overall, a nice summer beer - very refreshing and definitely worth trying! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 03-May-2008, sampled on 31-May-2008.

Probably one of the tasties summer brews i’ve had in a while. Indeed very complex and many different flavors coming from all areas. Pours a vibrant golden colour with a full white creamy head. Love how the roasted malts and citrusy hop character compliment each other creating a very unique mouthfeel.
