Aroma of light citrus, pale malt and heavy grains. Taste of apple, mild citrus, pale malt and light yeast. Mostly malted with little to no hop presence. Body is over carbonated and a bit chalky and has some astringent qualities to it. smcolw (334), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA

Nice and hoppy nose. Mild palish malts in the background.
More like an American pale ale than an English one. Crisper body with a high level of carbonation. Light crystal malt nuttiness in an otherwise pale malt base. Good hop finish, although it is short lived. Overall, a very nice pale ale.

Only could make out a biscuit, yeasty aroma. Flavors of biscuit and yeast, with lemon zest and spice, maybe some sourdough and dandelion. Light and refreshing. Good alternative to wheat beer. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Summertime, like no other time, puts me in the right frame of mind for Jimmy Buffet, tiki bars, and summer beers. Yes, winter is not the only season for special beer releases. Warm weather, sunny blue skies, and a refreshing ocean breeze demands a crisp, refreshing beer of epic proportions. Stepping up to the plate to answer the challenge and quench my thirst is the Summer Ale from Brooklyn Brewing.
Polished copper with perky orange highlights, her soft white head lingers long into the day with a soft cottony blanket. A light summer breeze carries her bouquet of sweet summer fruits straight to my heart. Whoever said chocolate is the way to a girl’s heart obviously never tried a damn good beer instead. Apples, crisp and sweet, their skins snap with each bite. Cinnamon sprinkled over pears and oranges lead into sweet lemon blossoms while toffee and maple syrup crackle along the crust of some freshly toasted bread. Bright and full of life, we celebrate her joys together, hand in hand. Bright on top of my tongue, she sparkles and tingles, leading into a crunchy sweetness and toast. Her lemon blossoms linger in my breath while maple and toffee linger on the tip of my tongue. The center of her palate, the core, is all freshly picked red apples, blood oranges, pears, and mangos. The Summer Ale from Brooklyn Brewing gets straight to the point and holds fast from first quaff to last. Executed with precision and grace, I quickly book myself another date, this time at the beach with toes digging into the sand.
Brooklyn Brewing is blessed to have two great founding entrepreneurs and one fantabulous Brewmaster, Garret Oliver. Together, they create magic of the everyday variety; it is everywhere and yet nowhere. If you ever want to try and capture a little of that magic before it slips through your fingers once more, be sure to give their Summer Ale a few moments of your time and attention.
