Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

12 oz bottle split with Mr. PJs. Aroma is weird and hoppy. Taste is smooth, citrus, malty. :::::SECOND TRY:::: On Draft at 123 in nyc. Poured pale yellow slight haze. Pretty smooth with some wheat and yeast in the flavor.

Pours a transparent golden colour with a finger thick frothy head that retains well and fades to a cap. Leaves good lacing. The aroma is of floral hops, slight barnyard, and a bit of fermenting vegatable (ugh). The flavour is lightly malty, bitter metallic and citrus hops. The aftertatse is very zesty and dry. The palate us tingly without being harsh and light bodied, making it easy to slug after a vigorous summer workout. A quenching and very crisp summer ale I found to be very suitable for the hotter months.

Bottle. Pour is a very transparent golden amber color with about a two finger head. My first thoughts about the aroma were "wet dog" and "skunk cabbage." It has changed slightly to a more pleasant mix of herbal and floral hops, but a little bit of that initial unpleasantness is lurking quietly in the background, just barely perceptible. Taste is pretty rugged and not pollished at all. This beer brusquely transitions from a bit of watery malt to a metallic and herbal hops finish. I can’t say that I appreciated either phase.

This beer pours a nice head with a golden color to it. It was pored into a pilsner glass with good head retention. It has the smell of flowers and mild hops as well as some malt. The taste is some what smooth with hints of floral flavors and mild malt. there is not much bite though. It is kind of like a pilsner but with out the bite at the end.

Pours a pale yellow with a medium frothy white head. Aroma is hint of malts, metallic, and floral hops. Initial taste is malty with a very watery and thin body. Finishing mildly bitter and crisp. Some Head retention and some lacing of the glass.

Brooklyn Summer Ale is an easy drinking alternative to beer drinkers who do not like wheat beers. It pours a clear golden with nice carbonation. The aroma is lightly malty and citrusy. The flavor is slightly floral with a zesty lemon after taste. It is very refreshing and easy to drink. A “no problem, let’s play 500 Rummy on the back deck” kind of beer.

Pours yellow with a moderate head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, akin to fruit. Light mouth feel. Sweet with a bitter hop end. Pretty relaxed beer fro summer.
