Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Pours a crystal clear gold with a small white head. Griany smell, kind of bready, with some very mild citrus aromas. Mediocre at best. The taste is much the same, has that bready sort of aftertaste, with a mildly citric flavor. Very easy drinking and would be nice on a hot day probably, but this isnt a very exciting beer otherwise. I guess I shouldnt be expecting much from this style, but maybe a little too grainy for my liking.

Translucent body, deep golden in color. A small, creamy white head recedes very slowly. Plenty of appealing lacing is left behind. The nose is mostly bready malts and light toasted grain, with hints of floral hops and light citrus. The flavor is well balanced, with light sweetness and light dough leading. Hops provide a subtle bitterness. light spice and yeast gradually build their presence with each sip. Acidity is just prevalent enough to wipe clean the palate after each sip. Light, everpresent and satisfying/drying/quenching astringency. The finish is balanced, with just a touch of hoppy bitterness and grain, lightly drying and brief. Mouthfeel has medium carbonation, is very gentle and light-medium bodied, incredibly easy to drink. This is a very well done golden ale.

Tap at Fette Sau. Listed as "Brooklyn Dinner Ale". Pale amber beer. Light minerally aroma and pale UK-ish malts. A light toastiness and a bit of fruitiness as well. Very subtle with light berries and a kiss of earthy hops on the nose. Warming brings up a light spiciness and a bit of woody resins. Hardly a mind-blowing beer, but it’s very well constructed, well-balanced and highly sessionable... just as I suspect was intended.

12 oz from someone... somewhere... I’m sure, all I know is it endded up in the fridge, thus it will be drank. Clear pale golden color with small white head. Very small grainy aroma. Flavor is sweet, with banana, light bitterness and that sort of cold conditioned dull malt flavors. Med body with crisp stinging carb. Not all that interesting, now to find out who put that in my fridge.

Bottle from River’s bend. Poured clear pale with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium sweet fruity hoppy aroma. Medium body. Medium sweet flavor with a small bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were met.

This is a light Lager from Brooklyn Brewery. It pours golden yellow with a medium head. It shows a nice amount of hops and malt on both the palate and the aromas. It has a light clean finish!

I had this beer at the Brooklyn Brewery happy hour. It poured light gold with a decent head. It had aromoatic notes of spice and citrus. The mouthfeel semeed to be of the wheat variety. excellent summer beer!

Golden color. White head. Fruity aroma. Tastes like most golden ales. Refreshing with a slightly thin clean finish. Would be a good camping beer.
