Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

On tap at Coles in Buffalo. Light orangey body with a small white head. Sweet grass/hay aroma with light grainy fruit notes. Pleasant bitterness in the flavour with muted fruit esters, touch of something a bit rough in the finish, grainy aftertaste. Average palate. Pleasant, but a bit dull.

Bottle from FrumptyDumpty; Nose of grain and maybe a tiny bit of citrus hops, barely detectable; golden yellow with a small yellow tinged head; flavor has a little hop bitterness mixed amongst a lot of graininess and a little caramel malt, and a little peppery sppiciness.

tap. No head. Cloudy orange body. Something alittle off in aroma (mixed with light hops and malts). Not impressed.

Bottle. Pours a light golden in color with a bleached white head. The aroma is of crisp citrus with a bit of yeast. The flavor is a bit bready with a clean crisp finish. It was actually a very nice tailgating beer for a summer baseball game.

Looks nice enough when poured from the bottle. A sweet golden ale. Smells and tastes like a macro lager, though. Disappointing overall.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden with a small but lasting white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of light sweet malt, floral and citrus hops. Taste is slightly grainy and dominated by citrus hops. A little thin on the mouthfeel with a fair amount of bitterness. A good Summer ale.

Bottle. Clear amber with a medium head. Aroma of sweet light malt, some spiciness and a bit of floral hops. Some fruit is the taste; pears and citrus. Ends nicely bitter. It’s actually one of the better ’Summer brews’ I’ve had. Nice lawn-mower beer.
