Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Bottled. Slightly hazy golden amber pour. Nose is lemony, flowery and bitter. Soft grains and malt as well. taste is malty but controlled. Lots of grains, lemony tartness, flowery hops and soft citrus oils. Creamy feel in the mouth. Soft carbonation. Light-medium overall feel. Lingering bitterness. Ends with more lemon, floral hops, grains and soft malts. Very reminiscent of some of the ales I had in London, a little more bubbly, however.

The floral hops underline a nice fresh barley malt aroma, much like it actually tastes. The head is small yet firm, and the flavor nicely balances the pale malt with discreet hops. The palate has a bit of husk flavor, and Cascades ever-so-slightly dominate the hop flavors. The husks linger in the finish, not in its favor. This seems like a weaker version of Dogfish Shelter Pale Ale, which I much prefer.

Not a bad session ale I guess. A little bit of bitterness and hoppiness, pours dark. Drinkable.

This was an excellent ale. Balanced hops and malts flavors were most pleasant. The color was a light copper with a generous receding head. This was purchased at the Caboose in Ashland , Va. I am goiung to try and have more of this Ale. This is a medium body ale with a hint of bitterness.

Bottle. Blech! Little taste, little color, yeasty smell of a wheaty summer.

Bottle (12oz). Clear, slightly oily-looking gold, average white head. This smells very Canadian - grainy, slightly vegetal, funky/herbal hops - not too pleasant smelling. Very clean taste, sharp fresh grain, weak herbal hops - very summery, bitter finish. Watery body, very light astringency, quick finish, somewhat grainy bitter aftertaste. Not overwhelming, drinkable.

12 oz bottle Total Wine and More, Cherry Hill, NJ-Pours a light golden hue with slight white head. Very light hops, not a whole lot of flavoring, not a overly inspiring aroma. I don’t think i’ll be drinking this again or purchasing it again. Severely disappointing for a summer ale-better options out there.
