Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Way too much burnt popcorn for my tastes. I honestly thought I would come here and find that this was a kolsch, considering that all American Kolschs I have had tasted very much like this beer.

Light gold color. Smells of skunked malts and wheat. Luckily the taste is much better than the smell. Has a smooth summer ale taste. Leaves a little bit of an aluminum taste in the mouth after.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a two finger white head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing. Doughy aroma with grassy hops, English malt. Taste is bready, doughy, with some okay hops balancing. Watery mouthfeel. Crisp, clean aftertaste. Okay session beer. Nothing to rave about.

Well, it hit over 90 today, so I thought I would crack my first summer offering. This one fits the bill. It seems to be better than its parts. Very quaffable. Extra points because it is trying to be winpy yet flavorful. Decent amount of spices and citrus.

bottle. Pours a clear golden with a small frothy white head. The aroma is a corn malt and slghtly hpppy. Good sticky lacing along the glass. Medium mouthfeel, sweet hop taste with honey and a sweet finish. A good blond ale from Brooklyn.

Pours a yellowish color with a little white head. Aroma is hoppy as well as bready. Tastes rather nice with some spiciness and a bunch of bread and then a little layer of hops thrown on top of that. Overall, it is an ok session and probably good for the summer (whenever that comes to Boston in a month or two).

Bottle. Clear golden yellow pour. Small fizzy head. Aroma was spicy, with some wheat and corn. Flavor was little citrus, coriander, spice. Mouthfeel was fizzy and watery.
