Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Pale clear gold pour with a thick frothy head and excellent lacing; lots of bubbles. Big aroma of citrus, spice, sweet fruit. Taste is light, just a tang of bitterness. Aroma is far more interesting than the flavor, unfortunately. It’s not bad.

Golden brew with a small citrus aroma. Taste is pretty bland with small amount of citrus. Thin and watery and just not all that great. Pretty plain brew that I am glad to have only purchased one bottle of it. Noticed in my personal notes that I had tried this back in 2010. They must have changed the recipe because my notes from then said this brew was hoppy and decent with an ABV of 5%. They should have left it alone because apparently I liked it in 2010.

Draft at De La Gare. Pours light hazy orange with a big white head. Aroma of malt, light fruits, wort and light citrus. Flavour is over light sweet and moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Couleur orangée, légère mousse. Nez leger caramel blond. Gout insipide, rapide et aqueux, petite acidité en fin de bouche. A t’elle mal voyagé??

Bottle 355ml shared by Calisky. A golden beer with low head. Nose is very low, aroma is very also, just water, light malt, nutty, ant that’s it, very poor and boring.

Similar to victory summer love. Grainy body with light hop sweetness and the end. Differs slightly from a session ale in the bready body.

On tap at The Boua, Rio de Janeiro. Hazy yellow with thin white head. Aroma of citric hops and malt. Taste is malty, light grainy. Light body, easy drinking. A nice session beer, but not very amusing.

Fresh orange, minty pine. Rich sweet citrus, grape, mango, lime, peppermint, dry finish. Pretty decent stuff, nicely balanced and refreshing as it is meant to be.

(Brooklyn Summer Ale) Tap at Cafe Samson, Nijmegen. ABV 6% Clear body, orange in colour, with one finger of white head on top, thick and with good retention. Sweet aroma, milk-like, old grass, grains. Taste also of grains, toffee, some iron. Medium thin body, soft carbonation. Nothing special and nothing summery about it.

I had it from the bottle. The taste was a nice balance of hops, bread, and malty sweetness. It was smooth but still had enough refreshing crispness to be a good summer beer.
