Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

This is a really good beer. Pours a nice golden color, has that light hoppiness. A good beer for those hot summer days. Only wish it had a little more kick to it! I will definitely buy this again.

Bottle, 35,5cL. Home. A clear golden beer with few bubbles. Small white head, average retention. Caramel aroma, herb. Medium sweet, light to medium refreshing bitter. Light body, thin texture, average carbonation, short bitter finish. Overall, light, refreshing. Disappointed.

Golden ale with stable, snow white head and clear golden blonde colour. Aroma of lime, apple peel, lemon zest, honey, grass, straw, white bread, pine resin and something sweaty. Soft, elegant taste, light, fruity, a bit honeyish, malt sweet, a bit bready, medium long grassy hop bitterish finish. Refreshing and elegant, as is to be expected from the style.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Pours golden with a fading white head. The taste is citrus with a toasty malt finish. Light and refreshing, but extremely disappinting for a Brooklyn beer. Average at best.

The ultimate summer beer to me. Very smooth and small bubbles like fine corsican fizzy water, IMHO.

Transfer from BA review on 6-11-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- Served a medium golden amber colored brew with a small white head. The head fades quite fast leaving only a trace level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is sweet and citrusy. A little bit of breadiness and wheat is mixed with a good dose of sweet lemon and grapefruit as well as an orange smell. Taste – The taste begins with a slightly grainy and malty taste with some flavors of lemon upfront. The lemon is on the slightly sweeter side up front, but sours more as the taste advances to the end. Along with the souring in the taste so too comes flavors of a more bitter hoppy flavor. The hop are of a herbal and citrus nature, leaving a odd bitter but sour taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thinner then average in creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are good for the style of the beer and create a light refreshing feel overall. Overall – Not bad, but a little too much bitterness which takes away slightly from the more refreshing characteristics of the brew.

Definitely a golden ale, but seems watered down. Mild malt aroma and sweet malt taste, and then an abrupt finish. Mouthfeel and consistency are watery. Refreshing, but bland.
