Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Poured into shaker glass a gold color with a quick dissipating white head. Aroma was light and malty with a little caramel note. Taste was also light but with a malt backbone not corn. Some citrus very late in the finish. Body is light carbonation is fair. I think this is a good take on what is a bad, or boring style, as in its light but not adjunct. But why copy that?

Keg at the Constitution, Leith. Dark gold with a semblance of white head. Mild malty aroma, hard to get excited about. Sweetish umami in the taste. Almost like something not really edible, like blu-tac or paper glue. Finish is chock full of crystal malt. This is drinkable but has serious issues, and I’d expect more from a brewery of this calibre.

12oz Flasche. Goldgelbes klares Bier mit flachem weissen Schaum. Blumig und Kräuteriges Hopfenaroma. Geschmack ist frisch. Natürlich etwas flach, soll ja auch ein Sommerbier sein. Ich finde es gut.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 29 Aug 2015) Golden amber colour with brief, white head. Fruity, malty nose with apricots, orange and soft malt aromas. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, orange, soft bready malt and a gentle citric bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Refreshing and summery. Quite nice.

Golden brew with a small citrus aroma. Taste is pretty bland with small amount of citrus. Thin and watery and just not all that great. Pretty plain brew that I am glad to have only purchased one bottle of it. Noticed in my personal notes that I had tried this back in 2010. They must have changed the recipe because my notes from then said this brew was hoppy and decent with an ABV of 5%. They should have left it alone because apparently I liked it in 2010.

Bottle 355ml shared by Calisky. A golden beer with low head. Nose is very low, aroma is very also, just water, light malt, nutty, ant that’s it, very poor and boring.
