Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Pours golden with a fully receding white head. Aroma of citrus, wheat,. Taste is sweet with notes of honey and wheat. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky with moderate carbonation. Not as ’Summery’ as other Summer Ales I’ve tried.

A crisp & refreshing summer-type beer, nothing outstanding, but good for a nice hot summer day, dark golden color, minimal white head, not a lot of lacing around the glass, a little grass & light hops in the nose, light body & flavor, but very crisp & smooth, a bit of a sour flavor that was a little unpleasant, a little sourness in the finish as well, otherwise a decently drinkable beer for the summertime

Bottle. Pours a light golden in color with a bleached white head. The aroma is of crisp citrus with a bit of yeast. The flavor is a bit bready with a clean crisp finish. It was actually a very nice tailgating beer for a summer baseball game.

Pours a faint golden with a fine head of white bubbles. Some lemon and light hops on the nose. Taste is rather dry but refreshing and crisp. Body is full finishes with some nice bitters.

Draft at Olde New York in State College. Golden yellow amber color. Faint sweet nose of wheat, apricots, biscuity malts, light spices and faint and candy sugar. Sharp and just barely acidic, overall a bit sweet and mild, with flavors of star anise and sweet grains, but again overall it’s a farily light beer. Nothing too exciting.

Not bad. Surprisingly dark tasting for a summer brew. Gold in color with a fairly big frothy white head. Malty, bready aroma. Flavor is predominantly malty wit hsome hops dashed in there, but with this interestingly dark spicy character ... alomost like toasted peppercorns. I dunno. If this had been a blind taste test, I would’ve guessed brown ale. Tasty little beverage at any rate.

Pours yellow with a moderate head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, akin to fruit. Light mouth feel. Sweet with a bitter hop end. Pretty relaxed beer fro summer.
