Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Summer Ale is a modern rendition of the "Light Dinner Ales" brewed in England throughout the 1800's right up until the 1940's. They were also called "luncheon ales" or even "family ales", because they were refreshing and flavorful without being too heavy. We brew our Brooklyn Summer Ale from premium English barley malt, which gives this light-bodied golden beer a fresh bready flavor. German and American hops lend a light, crisp bitterness and a citrus/floral aroma resulting in a beer with a very sunny disposition. FOOD PAIRING Excellent with salads, seafood, quiches, and lightly spicy dishes. It's also great at a brunch. SPECS Style: English Style Light Dinner Ale Malts: Two Row British Malts Hops: German Perle and American Cascade, Fuggle, and Amarillo Alcohol: 4.5% by volume Original Gravity: 11 Plato

Bottle 12 fl oz
Appearance: Light amber with touch of gold , medium semi dense top.
Nose: Neat citric hoppy aroma with matching sweet malts. Good refreshing flowery aromatic nose closing.7+
Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied ale . Soft with oily character. Hoppy citric character is well carried till finish. Quiet refreshing formula for summer ale. Good premium bitter.

brooklyn summer ale 12oz bottle. golden pour, white foamy head. Light, crisp aroma. Floral hops in the nose, hint of fresh grass. light grain scent. dry, biscuity flavor. Light bodied. Nice balance. The flavor of barley is nicely weighed out with a mild hop bitterness that lasts a good while. Quite refreshing. 5,4,3,4,11

Bottle pours a medium gold color with a thin head. Aroma is sweet, citrus, hops, and malt. Some bread/wheat in the flavor along with the citrus, hops, and malt. Some hop bitterness in the finish and a nice flavorful aftertaste. A good summer ale.

5.24.08 tap at Andy’s. A nice light brew from Brooklyn who rarely if at all disappoint. Not as good as as the rest of their selection but something nice to have when those nights are getting warmer and longer.

Golden pour with a pretty small head. Aroma is citrusy. Interesting amount of hops for a summer ale. Great taste.

I’ve heard a lot about Brooklyn Brewery’s offerings, so I bought a few singles today; this was my first I tried. Pours a clear, medium gold with slight head. Aroma is bready with some definite citrus notes thrown in there. Taste is bready with some citrus up front with a surprising amount of hops towards the back for a Golden Ale, though the flavor is quite nice. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but this is a tasty, extremely drinkable beer.
