3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(sample at the 2012 Boston Beer Summit Winter Jubilee) really a wheat wine not a barley wine. I’m not a huge wheat beer fan, but this was excellent. Deep gold/amber with white head. Wheat/yeast aroma. Rich malt/yeast flavors with Belgian yeast. Dry finish. There was some flavor I couldn’t quite identify that really nailed it.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Jerry’s. Golden with fair, creamy, white head / Clean, resinous, almost medicinal, nose / Medium to full body, hint of sweetness, grain-lager character, with moderately dry, hot, finish / Chemical flavors of smoke, grain, resin, and honey / Poor. Drinks more like an imperial pils.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fairly clear golden amber with small white head leaves minor lacing.... Sweet dry spicy aroma, reminds me more of a Belgian strong golden than a barley wine... Dry strong medium full bodied, a little anise, alcohol aroma and taste, light vanilla kinda bland alc is present

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a slightly hazy cider color with a chestnut hue and an off-white head that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of light but sweet fruit backed by caramel and a slight hint of flora. Flavor is quite sweet as well with sweet fruit and grains with a hint of floral bitterness in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours with a crystal clear golden hue with a lasting white head that attributes good lace to the beer. Aromas are grainy, alcohol, caramel, bready, mild fruit and esters. Flavors show case a very nice malt complexity, bready, toasty, biscuity, mild caramel perhaps? Decently up front with the alcohol, minimal hops, light fruit esters. Pretty dry for a big barleywine. Creamy carbonation, medium to full bodied and warming.

This poured a ruby red color with a small off white head. Aroma was lots of yeasty notes, light spices, and alcohol. Flavor was very sweet, light fruit,, yeast, seemed more belgian style to me, and alcohol. Meh.
