New York Comic Con is nearly upon us, and to celebrate this most imaginative and animated occasion we’ve tapped into our inner nerd (didn’t have to dig too far) and brewed up a limited-edition draft-only hoppy amber IPA named The Defender. The liquid portion of The Defender was designed by Brewmaster and certified Sci-Fi geek Garrett Oliver, the logo by vintage DC Comics logo designer Milton Glaser, and the hero himself by Tony Millionaire.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear amber color with reddish highlights. The head is a tan color. The aroma is toasted malt. The taste is malt with some hops, this is a very good beer.

Draft. Pours orange with a white head. Fruity hops, flowery, and a hint herbal, light malty sweetness, and medium bitterness. Not bad, considering it’s possibly a bit old.

On tap at Barcade. Looks like an amber IPA, tastes like one. A little overly bitter, not particularly well balanced, but quite drinkable nonetheless. Not their finest, but fine. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
