Molasses, chocolate, nutmeg, and alcohol. Dark creamy brown with a creamy tannish brown head.

Aroma is strongly and staunchly hoppy. Delicious grassiness with a hint of citrus and sweet papayas. Decent lacing on a 1/2 inch head that disappears in a few minutes.
The taste has grassy hoppiness to it, but very mild on the palate.

Pours dark brown, nearly black, with a durable tan head. Smells quite hoppy. with a dark malt base. Tastes less hoppy with dark malt in the background; basically as expected but rather simple. Pine and citrus from the hops seem to clash more than mix with the nutty and chocolate notes from the roast malt backbone. Slight burnt note in the moderately bitter finish.
Medium body with moderate carbonation.
O: With somewhat low hop flavor, this tastes more like a Black PA than Black IPA. Not a problem, especially given the hoppy aroma, but the failure of the dark malts to blend nicely with the hop load is a detriment.

I don’t know if sorachi ace hops go with black malt, this beer has some sharp citrus and spices and also a thick maltiness.

On tap at the party source in Bellvue Ky’s growler station. This beer is an opaque black liquid with a moderate head. Nose is of resin and herbal hops with a somewhat earthy undertone. Taste is moderately good bitters with some black coffee deep roasted backbone. body is fluid and satin. finishes with just a hint of warming. A nice beer overall.

ABV: 7.4%. Unclear medium to dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, choclate, dark chocolate, light grapefruit - citrus. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130127]

Nice aromas of chocolate, coffee and hazelnut. Taste lets down somewhat, with weak coffee, chocolate and hops. Not enough body to meld these flavors.

Palate is wee bit too watery, medium bitter, low to med bodied. Chocolate is dominating. Ok

Appearance: Clear deep brown body, thing brown head.
Aroma: Strong citrus, light mint.
Taste: Minty, earthy intro into oranges with some cocoa.
Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation.
Overall: Decent beer, despite my ratings. There’s a lot going on.

Sample at En Öl&Whiskymässa 2013. Black beerwith a nice beige head. Hoppy roasted aroma, chocolate, grassy, raisins, floral, hay, perfume notes. Hoppy flavor, roasted, chocolate, ash and soot, fruity notes, pine needles, some hay.
