12 oz bottle. 6.1%. From saveur-biere.com.
Dark reddish brown colour with small off-white head. Sweet malt, some spices, sugary sweetness and mild hops in the aroma. The flavour is malt, nuts, woody dryness, mild spices and mild hops. A bit watery.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a clear dark red color. The head is only a finger high, and cream colored. It’s texture and retention isn’t the best, nor is much lacing left behind. S: At first, there seems to be a suggestion of light spiciness. This quickly gives way to strong caramel notes, backed by the subtlest smokiness. There is enough here to make me enjoy the aroma, but not enough to blow me away. T: It opens up with a very light spiciness - it’s more of a suggestion than an actual note, to be fair. The caramel here is handled very deftly, gradually building in intensity without going overboard. In fact, a lot of the notes here seem to be subtle rather than bludgeoning - still, they’re defined enough to be prevalent to my scorched Earth of a plate. M: I really like how clean and crisp this is. Despite the sweet flavor, it’s well attenuated and dryish finishing. Despite that, it’s quite soft and creamy. The carbonation is rather soft, and fits well with its feel. O: This one is pretty damn tasty. I’d even suggest it exceeded my expectations. This is one I’d certainly drink again, if not buy by the 6-pack.

Rather sweet, almost sickly, lots of brown sugar, spices and a brown ale type vibe...not my thing.

Dark brown with stable small head. Clean yeast underlying toasty and biscuit malts, with some residual clean sugars. Resin hops to balance only. Simple body, not quite as rich and layered as expected. Warming alcohol only, certainly not hot. Not as rich as I hoped. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Bottle. Medium brown in color with a light head. No lace. Aroma is light caramel with a touch of roasted but. Taste is kind of weak with touches of caramel, roasted nuts, not bad but could be better.

Pours a nice chestnut with a hint of red. Smell is malty, hint of soap. Taste is more spice than anything if you ask me.

BBD 3/22/14. Pours a clear nice red hued amber with a reasonable head and lacing that fades in 2 minutes. Light nose of molasses over dark fruit - plum with a touch of raisin. The body is medium with good carbonation. The mouthfeel is borderline smooth with a carbonation level above average. The flavor profile is weak - something a Scottish ale should never be. A weak hint of caramel malt and an alcohol presence is all there is over a very light sweetness. The finish is crisp, again, something a Scottish ale shouldn’t be.
