8/X/15 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle @ Uncle Babe’s Burger Bar (Gent) - BB: 29/X/15 (2015-1463)

Clear reddish brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, dried fruits, some caramel, malty. MF: soft carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very malty, metallic, green banana, bit watery, more metallic, bit fruity. Aftertaste: slightly bitter, malts, sourish touch, bit nutty, some toast, watery, caramel, little roasted. Pretty light and watery for a winter ale, if you ask me.

Tap@opusk. Brown amber clear. Malty aroma, slight nutty toffeish, with just a hint of herbs. Med bodied, med bittered, malty bit esb-y. Soft smooth. Clean ok, bit weakly flaviured, ordinary though.

12oz Flasche. Dunkelbraune Farbe mit beigem dünnen Schaum. Das Bier duftet nach Malz, Toffee und Trockenobst. Geschmack ist süsslich malzig. Etwas alkoholisch.

355ml bottle. Murky brown shade. Can barely manage a head. Aroma is smoky malt with some fruity character lurking. A lot of earthy toffee flavours on the tongue. Quite sweet. Suitably wintery I guess but just felt a bit lacking somehow.

Clear, rich redcopper colour; medium, cream-amber head, not very lasting; Leafy, bready, nutty. This smells like an Urbock all the way. Slightly sourish, quite leafy. Malt underneath, but hardly any sweetness, even not warming up. Dried red fruit, faintly pharmaceutical. Not really well bodied, more attenuated than Bock would be. Needed a good Brooklyn one, after the Blast(ed) disappointment.

Nutty, plum, dark caramel, mild roasted malt, touch of licorice, astringent finish. Flavors are a bit mild despite a promising nose, not as rich as expected for this style.
