3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
6% bottle from Yamaichi. A nutty brown colored pour with thin fizzy beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel, plums & toffee. Reminds me of a Marzen or Wee heavy in the nose. Taste is nutty, caramel, toffee but a bit rough, kind of some oxidized metallic notes-it may have lost something during transport.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a mahogany color with a two-finger beige head. Aroma is caramel, cereal, hay, and a very faint vanilla. Taste is medium sweetness, lightly bitter, and a lingering salty sweet on the tongue. Overall, it’s easy to drink, not offensive, and nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Light intensity of aromas but with obvious notes of yeast-extract - bovril/marmite, and subtle hints of sweetness - possibly dried-figs or banana-bread. The sweetness is more obvious on the palate though this dries almost instantly from chocolate-toffees to cinnamon and walnuts, and offers a very short finish with only a delicate lingering of fresh wholegrain toast. Flavourful, but is either under-spiced or is a new, elegant take on the seasonal winter ale.
