3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown with stable small head. Clean yeast underlying toasty and biscuit malts, with some residual clean sugars. Resin hops to balance only. Simple body, not quite as rich and layered as expected. Warming alcohol only, certainly not hot. Not as rich as I hoped. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Medium brown in color with a light head. No lace. Aroma is light caramel with a touch of roasted but. Taste is kind of weak with touches of caramel, roasted nuts, not bad but could be better.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a nice chestnut with a hint of red. Smell is malty, hint of soap. Taste is more spice than anything if you ask me.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
BBD 3/22/14. Pours a clear nice red hued amber with a reasonable head and lacing that fades in 2 minutes. Light nose of molasses over dark fruit - plum with a touch of raisin. The body is medium with good carbonation. The mouthfeel is borderline smooth with a carbonation level above average. The flavor profile is weak - something a Scottish ale should never be. A weak hint of caramel malt and an alcohol presence is all there is over a very light sweetness. The finish is crisp, again, something a Scottish ale shouldn’t be.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a very pretty red with a decent light tan head. No lacing. Aroma is very slight, but very pleasant. Taste is ok. Very malty but still tastes kind of thin. Overall, very pleasant and good session beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2014 12 oz bottle from Redmonds. Clear, dark amber, thin, bubbly off white head, doesn?t last. Strange vegetal notes in the aroma, boiled cabbage and spice. These flavours carry through to the taste and really aren?t pleasant. Heavy, fizzy, with a longp finish.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This bottled brew from a grocery store poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized light tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a uncarbonated transparent light red brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and malt hop. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The semi-sharp flavor contained notes of brown malt hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma of sweet malty notes predominates with a few spicy notes. Flavour has a slight metallic edge over a pleasant maltiness. Body is pretty thin for a winter ale.

12 oz bottle. Gift from Joe --- thanks! Some nice notes of caramel and hops. Has a warming effect in the belly. I rather enjoyed it.
