Brown, no head poured from bottle. Faintly caramelly, sticky, slightly bready, sweet. Not my favorite Scottish ale.

Dark mahogany pour. Malty slightly roasty aromas. biscuit malts and a slightly spicy and peppery finish. Mouthfeel a bit thin for my taste, though it’s probably not too far off the style.

Sample on tap..medium amber color...aroma is mostly caramel..malt and a trace of smoke..mouthfeel is more of the same..can’t say I love scotch ales but this seems a bit thin overall for a winter moniker...far from full bodied..

a deeply malty aroma mostly caramel and toffee based.a bit of smoke as well..dark red brown clear liquid, thin tannish head..tastes pretty much like the aroma sweet in its own way but quickly dissipating finish and a bit insubstantial, the flavors good, but the brew is slightly thin and watery compared to other winter ales..its not bad but a little extra texture and strength is missing

12floz. bottle. Gordon´s Thistle glass. Reddish amber color, ruby tints to the light & chill haze appearance. Tan froth & close crown showing fairly good retention & leaving lacing on sides. Intense caramel malt, toffee & candy aromas, hints of sugar cane & molasses. Sugary & toasted upfront. Light body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Watery & sugary with a low herbal bitterness in the middle. Dry sweet/bitter finish & slight herbal liquor notes on the aftertaste.
