The nose is a little messy... caramel, malts, roasted malts, coffee, BBQ sauce, soy sauce, molasses, and even some smoked wood. But I’m intrigued. Unfortunately, the taste delivers little more than a very average ale with malty bitterness and a bit of sugary sweetness. Mouthfeel is weak, with a thin-to-medium body and shy carbonation. This could have been better.

Nose filled with caramel notes but has a dilute flavor to it's odor. Not much happening apart from that. The appearance is good, maybe a little foggy with average lacing. The taste is really dilute. One would expect more malts and flavor in general. It's not bad but nothing memorable either. Towards the end it gets a little creamy and caramely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reimer96 (620) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 7, 2013
Pours a dark amber color with red hues and a small frothy white head. Aroma of rich marries otter malts, sweet caramel, brown sugar and a hint of spicy floral hops. Taste is burnt sugar, caramel, toast and a light bitterness on the finish. High carbonation in this one gives it a rather thin feel bit the appearance and Aroma of this beer is brilliant.

Pours a clear copper colour with a very thin off white top. Aroma is rich malt, caramelized sugars, a bit earthy and floral. Flavour is toast, caramel, some roasted malts, malty sweetness, light bitterness and some earthy hops. Carbonation in the bottle may be a bit high.

Bottle from Tomlinsons, Inverness [310313]
Caramel reddish brown, clear, fairly thick off white head that dissipates
Aroma of caramel malts, some hedgerow hops, some spicy hop, bit of flinty mineral in there
Taste as aroma - more caramel malts, bit of toffee, soft spicy hops, some light bitter bit earthy hop, touch of minerals, tastes much more like an English bitter from the Midlands, not Scottish at all, alcohol is pretty well hidden though - it does have a pretty good taste
Palate - Medium carb, thin to medium body, bit overcarbonated (for the style) Quite sweet, with some spicy bit bitter hop. Finish of caramel, bit of toffee, and that bit earthy spicy hop
Overall - Scottish Ale? No - its a bit mineraly and that more the Midlands - very much an English ESB, Needs to be more malty, no minerals and less hoppy to be a true Scottish ale. But style is unimportant - it’s a nice beer overall

This beer has a medium body. And lively carbonation. Wish it was a bit more flavourful.

Better than my expectations. Nice dark pour with a sweet malt aroma and good deep dark head. Not any spice that i could tell just a nice almost wee heavy.
