Bottle - Caramel and roasted malts with a bit of alcohol burn. Dark clear copper with a brown head. Malty with a bit of burnt orange and spice. OK, but nothing special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2007 edition thanks to crushinator. Te aroma is consistent with the Scottish style, malty and peaty. It drinks very smooth, even creamy above average mouthfeel. There is lots of lace. It is very drinkable for the style, which is a swallow ata time.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2007 Bottle... Clear copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki head. The nose is malty, beefy and herbal. The flavor is beefy and kinda funky with earthy, peppery notes. Moderately sweet. Medium-bodied and oily with tingly carbonation. Bland, lightly bitter finish. Well, that was a bit of a disappointment.

12 oz bottle. 6.1%. From saveur-biere.com.
Dark reddish brown colour with small off-white head. Sweet malt, some spices, sugary sweetness and mild hops in the aroma. The flavour is malt, nuts, woody dryness, mild spices and mild hops. A bit watery.

12oz bottle. Very dark but mostly clear amber-ruby color. Light tan head. Decent loose lace. Slight alcohol taste, a kind of watered-down dark fruit aroma, at least compared to the AVBC Winter Solstice I just had before this. Stronger but crisp carbonation. Taste is spicy sour bitter, some sweet with the caramel and dark fruits. Aroma is dark fruit, some chocolate, some metal, caramel. Not bad, but not great for a winter. I think Brooklyn’s beers are generally more carbonated than I like

Bottle. Dark brown and red with a thin head. Aromas are weetabix and citrus with floral notes. Chocolate with some herbal notes. Flavours are sweet chocolate and weetabix malts with citrus and raisins. Quite plummy and fruity on the finish. A decent winter brew.

300 mL. Pours a clear dark amber with almost no head and no lacing. No carbonation. Aroma is of a Scotch ale- Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, caramel malt. Taste is watery and dry with some wood notes, faint caramel, slight dry hops. Finish is seltzer water. Disappointing.

Draft from DRE. Medium brown pour with aroma of caramelly malt, some brown sugar, nutmeg, hops. Tastes caramel malty coupled with slight brown sugar and X-mas spicy notes, and a twinge of finishing hops.

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish brown with a big pale tan head that deflates quickly down to a medium size. Aromas of malt and the smell of caramelizing sugar in a pan. Thick and velvety smooth mouthfeel. A bit of gentle bitterness on the finish shows up after a bit more of that amazing burning sugar flavor.
