This brew is a mostly clear deep mahogany color with a medium and creamy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel and fruit. Medium body with flavors of malt, brown sugar and caramel, plus some soft fruit. The finish is malty with a hint of hops and spice aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at Waterfront Ale House. Pale amber colour, thin white head. The aroma is lightly chocolatey with some sweet spicy aroma as well. Light noble herbal hop flavour behind the sweet spices. Light toastiness as well. A bit sweet for my tastes, but decent enough.

bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with a little off-white head. A fruity malty beer with some herbal notes. There’s a bit of a fusty note to this late on. It’s pleasant enough and there’s a hint of spice, but it’s all a bit ordinary.

Bottle. Dark brown and red with a thin head. Aromas are weetabix and citrus with floral notes. Chocolate with some herbal notes. Flavours are sweet chocolate and weetabix malts with citrus and raisins. Quite plummy and fruity on the finish. A decent winter brew.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to FatPhil. It pours clear deep red-brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is caramel, wood, candy, leather, berry and some spice. The taste is caramel, wood, dark fruit, tangy berry, metal, brown bread and spice with a dry finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. Straightforward and easy drinking.

Draft from DRE. Medium brown pour with aroma of caramelly malt, some brown sugar, nutmeg, hops. Tastes caramel malty coupled with slight brown sugar and X-mas spicy notes, and a twinge of finishing hops.

Bottle. Brown body with small tan head and a little bit of lacing. Modest malty aroma with light caramel malt and a tangy malt note. Flavour is similarly malty with a distinct biscuity malt that I associate with the Marris Otter malt. Very light caramel notes, light bitterness in the finish keeps it from becoming cloying. Pleasant but straightforward brew. Bit light to be called a scotch ale in my opinion. Courtesy of HogTownHarry.

Bottle from Bitter Virtue, Southampton, purchased and consumed 17-01-10 Colour is edging towards copper a bit of a head but never lasted long enough for me to take any further detail. Some chewiness and there is caramel amongst the spicefest, touch nutty and malty. Its fine. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13 3.3
