Clear and very bubbly deep orange-blonde body is topped by a generous and constantly replenishing, fine bubbled white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Hop flavours of tropical fruit are strong and blend in with the banana and spice notes but there is also a very pleasant underlying pastry-dough-like sweetness. Bitterness is quite pronounced but not at all over the top. Medium-light body has very strong bubbly effervescence that lasts throughout. Very refreshing on an uncharacteristically hot and humid Vancouver afternoon. I could see this really hitting the spot in the muggy summer months in the North-East. Weizen glass. Fridge temperature. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a nice cloudy (had to swirl the bottle kinda hard) yellowish straw with a nice thick white head- creamy bubbles mixed with soapy larger bubbles and a soapy diminishing lace. Aroma is moderately lemony soapy some anise, spicy phenolics- vanilla, and light clove, some doughy wehat notes. Big wheaty malt flavor with some light tropical fruitiness and pineapple, clove spices, earthy floral hops, vanilla, and some lemony orangey zest in the end. Smooth, medium to big mouthfeel, but becomes a bit soapy and slick as it warms but overall this is just a good unique beer. I like this one quite a bit more than the German version. gotohelunc (473), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Bomber. Hazy orange color, huge white head. Beautiful aroma of sour hops, citrus, and yeast. The flavor’s not so well balanced, though very complex. Banana, cloves, citrus hops, grapes. It finishes with some red wine and a bit of burn. Interesting beer, but in my opinion, not worth the price. porterhouse (1152), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2008 (750 ml bottle from Tully’s) A little richer and tastier than the Schneider version...Cork comes out with a strong pop. Pours cloudy gold-amber with a huge frothy, foamy, lumpy off-white head. Foam oozes out of the bottle for several minutes. Later pours are even cloudier, a bit darker and have a bit of a grayish tint. Aroma of sourish citrus, chocolate, banana, yeast, bread, even a bit of light caramel. Mouthfeel soft and wheaty smooth and with a nice bit of heft, perhaps a bit more than the Schneider. Tastes fairly rich and boozy - light sour citrus, wheat malt, chocolate, light banana, perhaps a touch of brown sugar. A bitter bite builds towards finish - a bit more prominent than the Schneider. Some caramel in warmer samples and deeper into bottle. A very good weizen bock but perhaps just a bit less refined than some of the truly great ones. OSLO (826), Perth, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 16, 2008 [Bottle, big thanks go to Stine for sharing!] Pours hazy golden with a good cream head. Aroma is nice, with a the expected citrus hops and banana. There was also subdued clove, and wheat. Taste is semi-sweet with yeast and banana most dominant. The clove and wheat are still there, but pretty subdued. Good mouthfeel and smooth. A very good weizen bock, but I actually preferred the Schneider & Brooklyner version, strangely enough. Still, I am definitely in need of a re-rate, as this was a tasting sample. BBB63 (4228), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Corked bottle and served in my Schneider Weizenbock glass: The hazy golden beer is topped by a lasting foamy head which left excellent lace upon the glass. Boy do the hops jump out at the nose in the beginning followed by muted hefe characteristics of banana, clove, pepper, lemongrass, wheat husk and bready malts.
The taste is exactly what you expected with a hop bitterness supported by fruity and spicy weizen flavors. Sharp spicy finish and some metallic notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is highly carbonated, sharp with a dry and abit alcoholic finish. Different for sure, these hybrid are sure fun to drink. JK (2949), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

More of a pale ale than a weizenbock bock, the mere presence of wheat in a beer like this doesn’t seem to get it to weizen bock. Great beer anyway. Loads of hops in the aroma and flavor. Sweet malt, and alcohol. Unusual hops, a continental style. Thick and heavy. Sweet, with lots of citrus including grapefruit. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish brown color, big white cotton-like head with decent lacing. Lots of Belgian yeast aromas, bubble gum, wheat, hay, grass, with a piney bite in the end. Hops are big up front in the flavor, with hay, wheat, clove, plum, citrus, and a pleasant bitter finish. Very bright and refreshing. Full-bodied, and the ABV is very well disguised.
