Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

750 ml bottle. Poured a cloudy yellow/orange with a huge fluffy head. Aroma of citrus fruits and hops. Flavor was wheat, grains, citrus, spice and bittering hops. Nice combination of yeast and hops with the wheat to create a very drinkable brew. Would be real nice on a warm, sunny afternoon.

750 ml bottle. I’ve been looking forward to this beer for a while. Pours cloudy orange with a fluffy white head. Great aroma of superfresh hops, imparting a spicy, earthy, citrusy aroma in addition to the more traditional bread and banana notes. Taste is similar, with really fresh hop character and a distincitive clove/spice quality. Excellent beer. Will definitely have again.

22 oz. bomber on 5/10/2008. Hazy deep gold body under a creamy, billowing white head that lasts and lasts, leaving thick, sticky lace - phenomenal looking. Wonderful aroma that has the characteristics of a German wheat with the banana and clove esters underneath and the citrus qualities of the Amarillo hops on top, a unique aroma that works well.

Medium body and carbonation, not overly effervescent as I expected after I saw the pour. Very smooth, almost creamy, yet clean and lightly dry. on the palate.

A solid, light malty base supports a balanced, soft grapefruit bitterness that extends into a long dry finish. This is just excellent in all respects.

750ml bottle: Aroma has a really nice spice to it, pine hop presence, orange zest, and a somewhat heavy clove aroma. Pours a cloudy yeasty orangish/golden color with a huge fluffy white head. (almost a light brown color) Taste has got a nice citrus note with orange, the pine comes later, then near the finish you get the clove note that bursts through. Somewhat of yeasty wheat flavor as well. Palate is nicely spicy/sweet, rather flat on the tongue, lively when it going down. Aftertaste has sweet fruit and clove intermingled with the slightest bit of hop. Overall, A very nice brew. I enjoyed this one thoroughly! Cheers!

750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Pours a very hazy light orange color. Medium head with good retention. Aroma is strong piney hops with a good sweetness balancing it. Taste is floral and pine hoppiness with stone fruit. Very nice.

Corked 750 ml bottle. Light orange color with a huge fluffy head with good retention leaving a lot of lacing. Aroma is very floral with light zesty fruits, hops and some champagne. The hops taste zesty and citrusy with a malt base present, some bubblegum and champagne in there as well. At times it seemed a little like chemicals. It’s not alcoholic but it is bold. Finishes a little sour and tangy with a lemon zing. A interesting and unique beer. I can see some hefe in it, some imperial pilsner as well but I woudn’t categorize it as either of those. Fun to try but not something I’d want to have on a regular basis.
