UPDATED: OCT 3, 2007 [draught @ Sunset Grill] Cloudy yellow color. Strong bubblegum aroma, with plenty of citrus hop character. Very interesting flavors, sweet wheat and banana. Impressive hop bitterness. Overall, very interesting and tasty stuff.

Hazy yellow with huge white head. Intense hop and spice aroma is strong enough to make me cough, but also has delicate pineapple undertones. Taste is intense as well, and singes my palate with cloves and massive amounts of resinous dry hops. Vastly different from the Schneider version.

The Weisse part really works, with familiar clove and banana, but clashes with the assertive nature of the hops. The amount of hop presence is part of the problem here; the type of hops is another. I’m sure my personal preference is another. Still, I have to hand it to Mr Oliver to get Schneider to participate in a great experiment.

Pleasant surprise at Brewgrass 2007. Poured a cloudy straw color with a thick off-white head. A ton of clove and citrus in the aroma with a complimentary hop aroma - not like a Houblon mind you, but this wasn’t the intent judging from the description. Pretty interesting taste. Light malt with classic clove and pepper taste, but citric hop on the finish. A very different direction than the hoppy belgians - and hopping a weizenbock seems less of a stretch than hopping a tripel/Belgian. Nonetheless, this was a distinct brew and one I had the dumb luck to run into.

Sampled at the 2007 BrewGrass Festival. Pours hazy straw-onion skin color with a HUGH frothy white head. Aroma was very pleasing with grasses, fresh light citrus, hints of herb and yeast. Well balanced flavor! Just WOW! I really did not have the words for this one and it was early in the festival. Grassy, light caramel or fruit and wheat grains, citrus, yeast, spice. Creamy full mouth feel. I really wanted to drink it all day. This was the surprise of the day for me and it blew me away. I may have over rated this a bit but I just could not believe that I liked this style so much. The best wheat beer I’ve ever had.

this was a surprise at the brewgrass, and I was excited to see it. pours a partly cloudy clean gold with full fluffy head. hoppy bitter presence. smooth and wheaty, full mouthfeel, better than the schneider, I like much.

I hope I’m rating the correct one - I sampled this at the 2007 Brewgrass festival and the tap handle cleary said "Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse" Anyway, Really nice aroma, very spicy and clovey and banana-y and even a touch of rosemary? Maybe? Plenty flavorful, too - very yeasty, and also spicy and fruity, and a nice dry finish. For a large beer, it’s surprisingly light on the tounge, kind of like a 300 pound guy who is a surprisingly good dancer.

Draft @ HDG. Pours foamy with a big, white head. Aroma first is fresh Cascades with a bready back. Right before the liquid hits your mouth, the you get slapped with a mouthful of fresh hops. A really good thing. The body is medium with mellow banana and cinnamon. Finishes even more hoppy with a bit of an abv buzz. Better than the bottle by far (IMHO).
