Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

A nice hazy golden beer with a large fluffy white head. Good sweet citrusy hop nose with yeasty wheat breadiness. Amazing hop flavor, like juicy fruit. Doesn’t have the bitterness that most hoppy beers bear, but this works real well with the light wheat malt. Perhaps the perfect summer beer, very refreshing! No trace of the 8.5%. Very unusual beer, but I think it really works!

On tap @ North BAr (Leeds, UK). Lovely sweet, grapefruity, bready aroma. Bright gold in colour and hazy. Tastes as it smells, with more pronounced and welcome yeastiness easy to drink very quaffable. Very impressed would seek out again.

Bottle. Poured gold with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus, spice, bready malt. Taste is similar with lots of citrus hop and light yeast, some spice. Finish is lightly bitter. Mouth is pretty well carbonated. Overall, a nice and refreshing brew.

Bottle. Golden cloudy pour with a massive fizzy white head. Aroma of yeast, citrus hops and cloves. Fantastic crisp taste of hops with yeast, lemongrass and spices present. Medium body that finished with a nice hoppy finish.

Thanks to dmac for shipping me this bottle. Bottle tasted at fordest house on a surprise visit he opened this up. First it was poured into my glass clear golden color. Fordest glass was cloudy. I tasted most of it my way then tried his. It was much better coudy. So we decided to mix our glasses and repour. Bread, yeast, clove, sticky very good. I liked the citrus as well.

At a tasting, thanks Shachar. Hazy light orange colour, aroma of grapefruit, honey, bread and black pepper dominated spiciness. Very strong hoppy bitterness coupled with a biscuity wheat sweetness, long bitter sour aftertaste. A little too hoppy , but still very good.

750 in Weizen glass. All pours. Clear and then cloudy golden orange with nice ahead and lace. Banana bubblegum and lemon Pixie Stix aroma. Mild sweet fruity tang and extremely sweet lemony bitter hops with spicy clovey cinnamon or something. Medium body and nice texture. I can’t really explain why the smell and flavor of this are so offensive to me. I was totally pumped for this and thought that this would cause me to re-rate Schneider-Brooklyn version. But this is just as bad. It just doesn’t work. It’s fucking gross. I can’t figure it. I love hefes. I love Amarillo in Belgian IPA triples. This is just nasty.

At a tasting, thanks Shahar, bright orange hazy with nice head, aroma of grapefruits, apricot, barnyard and some cheese notes, flavors of grapefruits and herbs, alcohol can be sensed, less complex than it’s german sister but still nice.
