Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

bottle at flying saucer. huge white frothy head (some lasting) into cloudy orange body with decent lacing present. aromas of wheat, bubble gum yeast, light honey, light cloves, and light hops. flavor is moderately sweet throughout. moderate finish duration. average carbonation. watery to dry texture. Damn fine Weizen bock.

[Bottle, big thanks go to Stine for sharing!] Pours hazy golden with a good cream head. Aroma is nice, with a the expected citrus hops and banana. There was also subdued clove, and wheat. Taste is semi-sweet with yeast and banana most dominant. The clove and wheat are still there, but pretty subdued. Good mouthfeel and smooth. A very good weizen bock, but I actually preferred the Schneider & Brooklyner version, strangely enough. Still, I am definitely in need of a re-rate, as this was a tasting sample.

Corked bottle and served in my Schneider Weizenbock glass: The hazy golden beer is topped by a lasting foamy head which left excellent lace upon the glass. Boy do the hops jump out at the nose in the beginning followed by muted hefe characteristics of banana, clove, pepper, lemongrass, wheat husk and bready malts.

The taste is exactly what you expected with a hop bitterness supported by fruity and spicy weizen flavors. Sharp spicy finish and some metallic notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is highly carbonated, sharp with a dry and abit alcoholic finish. Different for sure, these hybrid are sure fun to drink.

Shared by Stine. More of a pale ale than a weizenbock bock, the mere presence of wheat in a beer like this doesn’t seem to get it to weizen bock. Great beer anyway. Loads of hops in the aroma and flavor. Sweet malt, and alcohol. Unusual hops, a continental style. Thick and heavy. Sweet, with lots of citrus including grapefruit.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish brown color, big white cotton-like head with decent lacing. Lots of Belgian yeast aromas, bubble gum, wheat, hay, grass, with a piney bite in the end. Hops are big up front in the flavor, with hay, wheat, clove, plum, citrus, and a pleasant bitter finish. Very bright and refreshing. Full-bodied, and the ABV is very well disguised.

Excellent aroma yeasty, bready, wheaty, spicy, fruity, sweet, hoppy, woody. Flavor is yeasty, hoppy, and woody with a big bready, hoppy, woody aftertaste. Interesting and good.
