Although it poured with a medium head and left good lacing, the body did not look unfiltered at all - It reminded me of a deep golden ginger-ale, and nearly as sparkling clear. Lightly citrus and spicy in the aroma. Taste was sweet, with some yeast; followed by a foamy burst of citrus/herb at the swallow and a nice dry finish. An easy summer drinker.

Appearance was hazy, but not cloudy like many German hefe's (from the bottle; tap may be diferent). Decent aroma that was spicy and fruity. That description carries over to the taste where the yeasts help create a smoothness that lasts through the finish.

Meine virgin weisse bier (my 1st wheat beer). Also, a summer beer choice. The beer pours a cloudy yellow color with a small but OK head. The beer has a heavy citrus/banana aroma. It leaves a nice but subtle taste in your mouth.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In bottle - Dark yellow hue with an average, fizzy white head, fair lacing. Light-bodied. Light grainy, floral, pear, sweaty aroma. Displays some yeasty characteristics on the tongue, moderate acidic finish, good balance. Dry and lively mouthfeel. Except for some minor yeast in the bottom of the bottle, this is closer to filtered beer than not. A good darker weiss.

Pours a hazy Blonde. The scent is of fresh citrus. Nice fluffy head.A very refreshing brew but lacking the signature banana and cloves of the prototype hefeweizen.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2003 Hazy, yellow brew. Small, creamy, quickly diminishing white head. Decent lacing.
The nose is of clove, pepper and yeast.
The flavor is rich and malty for the style. Very well-balanced. Spicy, citrusy, soapy and fairly bold for a wheat beer. Perfectly (and I DO mean perfectly) balanced.
Light-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel.
Very crisp, clean finish. Refreshing!

On Tap at the Blind Tiger Ale House, NYC: This one pours a cloudy, golden color with a big, rocky, white head. The head lasts through the entire glass and leaves good lacings behind. The aroma is spicy and yeasty with some cloves and mild fruit notes, very typical of the style. It has a medium body with lots of carbonation. The flavor is yeasty and spicy with some hints of banana and bubble gum. This was a good American interpretation of a true German Hefe Weisse.

This was my first weisse beer and I hated it. I didn't realize that these beers taste like that Belgian banana crap! Unfortunately I bought another weisse beer today and I am regretting it if it tastes like this.

Murky, cloudy body with barely a head at all. A pretty malty wheat beer, but also quite flavored with citrus and cloves. Spicy, yeasty aroma - an average wheat beer, in my opinion.
