austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Jan 29, 2003 Updated: Feb 6, 2005Finally in bottles in NYC!!! Excellent sweet, yeasty brew with a lasting foamy head. Had it to celebrate my birthday today, so that probably made it taste even better. An excellent German Wheat that’s up there with the best from Germany and gives Herold Weisse a run for its money. Very sweet and yeasty and not in the typical German HefeWeizen style. Rosendale Brewmeister99 (55), Rosendale, New York, USA Aug 29, 2001 Wow!! I can hear the Oom-Pah band play if I drink enough. Nice head, nice flavor, very refreshing. The perfect replica to the German Weisse!
TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 31, 2006 Garrett Oliver is a stickler for beer styles, and he produces some very authentic, very delicious, domestic examples of the classics. Brooklyner Weisse is no exception. This is a very well done example of Southern Bavarian hefeweizen brewed with the classic Weihenstaphenar yeast strain, and the proper amount of malted wheat. Brooklyner Weisse pours to a beautiful, very hazy, pale, yellow color with a tall, rocky, white head, and a vibrant carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent with lots of good aromas of clove, banana, and pear. The palate is tart and refreshing with really good wheat malt flavors, and a nice back drop of estery, fruity flavors of pear. This beer finishes with more good, tart, wheat malt flavors up front, then ends with some notes of banana and clove. Stylistically very accurate, and very delicious. A classic match with a mid morning snack of weiss wurst sausage, or a hearty breakfast. Whakaute72 (4), Fresh Meadows, New York, USA does not count Mar 20, 2007 On tap right from the brewery, Very fresh with a nutty wheat aroma, with hints of banana, cloves and citrus. Golden and hazy in apperiance with a frothy head. Tart in taste, not too sour. Overall very refreshing to sit back and drink. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA May 30, 2006 Poured a crisp golden orange color that left a thick white head that disappated quickly leaving a small lace. The aroma is fresh, brisk, orange and lemon zest followed by a generous helping of citrus and piney hop bite. It follows with a sweet banana and spice background typical with a Hefeweizen. The taste is highly carbonated, sharp bitter bite of hops round out this sweet bready fruity interpretation of the style.
