DSG (452), Yuvalim, Israel May 14, 2008 Bottle sample at a beer festival in kibbutz Ma’abarot, May ’08. Clear golden color. A slightly subdued aroma of wheat and some fruity esters. Sweetish wheaty flavor with some banana and clove notes and light tartness. Medium-bodied.
redlight (1031), Winter Park, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2008 draft @ redlight redlight. Big clove esters with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon with feint traces of bananas in the background. Pours a cloudy yellow golden color with a huge fluffy white head that leaves thick lacing down the glass. Sweet citrus with hints of bananas, very floral, with a nice spiciness, with a distinct bitterness towards the end but finishes very bready and leaves wanting more. Very good example of a german hefeweizen. Beerlando (1158), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 25, 2008 Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a hazy, glowing, tangerine-gold color. A fizzy white head is quickly dissipating, and scant spots are all that show for lace. The aroma is heavy on bubblegum, accompanied by notes of candied orange peel, banana, coriander, and clove. The flavor shows much of the same, with a candy sugar malt base and bitter floral hop notes. The coriander exerts itself a bit too much for my liking. Medium to light bodied and smooth, it goes down easy but lacks real substance. Decent beer, but far from special. cryfreedmb (96), Ocean, New Jersey, USA Jul 20, 2008 Picked this up at Oak Tree last week. Nice pour of hazy golden yellow with lots of floating sediment. Great aroma. Flavor is pretty decent. Much lighter in general then what the Germans produced. Still pretty good though. I like the fact that the clove flavor is a bit more tame in this. But some may say it lacks flavor. CapnCascade (33), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 17, 2008 Pours hazy amber-orange, moderate head with minimal retention, lots of big bits of suspended sediment. Somewhat yeasty aroma has notes of apple cider, grapes, and spice. Not unpleasant, though not exactly what I would expect for a Weissbier either. Develops rather mild flavors of apples and bananas with little to speak of in the way of a finish. Meh. Slightly watery mouthfeel with light carbonation. There’s nothing overtly unpleasant about this beer, but Brooklyn has better offerings. kragelund (7), , Denmark does not count Jul 14, 2008 (Bottle) Opened close to marked freshness date. Pours cloudy yellow no head and allmost no carbonation. Less wheat aroma and flavour than most german weise I have sampled.
