JorisPPattyn (6727) - Antwerpen, - MAR 31, 2006
Huge, irregular, slightly off-white head, slightly hazy straw coloured beer, well carbonated. Spicey and blossomy nose; lime flowers, and camomille is what I get. Then very fresh, green hops emerge - British hops, I’d say. This nose is a marvel of subtlety. Taste: eughh. Gruelling combination of almonds, unroasted peanuts (arachide) and a spicey bitterness. Disconcerting in the extreme. Greenmalt, and unidentifyable spices. My companion says ensilaged grass. Some hops all the same - wild hops? Rather light MF. Nobody would dare to venture 9% ABV. That nose promised heaven. What is this arachide taste (in malt)? If you like this strange taste, this is murderously drinkable, as it appears light, but oh God if those 9% are real...
I think those 9 spices were chosen because they smelt so good - but how they came out of a lagering tank was anybody’s guess...

Bottle. White creamy high and lasting head. Hazy golden body. Aroma of oranges and lemon. Strange hoppy flavor of the 9 spices which I cannot figure out. Coriander might be one of them. This will not become one of my favorites.

Grovlam (4108) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 9, 2007
Bottle, vintage tastning @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen. Head was large with a frothy white look. Good lacing to be found. Body was clear and light yellow. Aroma was light grain and straw with some flower, sweat, horse blanket, leather, light smoke and spicy. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Flavor was light bitter-sweet with a short finish. Nothing spectacular.

Bottle. Den Tatoverede Enke. Hazy golden colour with a big white head. The aroma is of corn and hay with some fruits and spices, the taste a bit sweet fruity with some not so plesant spices. Medium body with a sweet perfumed finish.

Bottled. Golden coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Aroma has light alcohol, fruits, spices and yeast. Flavour is quite citric. Some sweetness and fruits. Yeast and spice notable. Is a bit thin bodied. Quite dry. Some fruitsweetness in the end. Is a bit boring.

75 cl bottle. Big, off-white head with a cloudy orange-coloured beer underneath. Some particles floating round despite careful handling. Spicy aroma with moderate mild citrus. Grassy hoppiness. Rather dry flavours from the very start - from the spices ( that are not too easy to distinguish though coriander is probably among them) as much as the hops, I suspect, warming alcohol, yeasty. Medium bodied. No doubt an original contribution on the Wallonian brewing scene.
