3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draught pour at the meadery bar in Columbus, Ohio. Pours a clear Pinot Grigio colored still mead with a clean disk top and some excellent viscosity tears. Aroma of light lavender, a hint of peppermint, light honey and some floral yeast. Taste is medium bodied, more flavors of lavender, dry yeast and light honey. Finish picks up some lavender and a hint of cinnamon aftertaste followed by some mild dryness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour at Brothers Drake, served in a tulip. Pours a clean, clear white wine color with no head or bubbles. Very floral all the way through; lavender and chamomile lead the way, fresh mint-like herbs, with subtle wildflower honey. Light-bodied, without carbonation and a vinous, floral mouthfeel. Chamomile tea is really pronounced on the finish. Nice; I preferred this slightly to the Scarlet Solstice I also had that night.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Was served at the source. Pours bright, clear orange. Smells and tastes of turbinado sugar, cinnamon sticks, lavender, wine yeast, and Applejax breakfast cereal. Almost too sweet and not entirely as balanced as I was wishing it should have been.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample at Brothers Drake. Clear yellow color. Aroma of lavender, ginger, cinnamon and honey. Flavor starts off with cinnamon, ginger and honey, but gives way to lysol-like perfuminess. Not bad overall, but it’s got to lose the lavender and the old lady apartment character it adds. The spice character saves this mead.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2010 Sample at the Meadery. This Mead is a clear honey-gold color and sticks to the side of the glass a bit. Potpourri aroma of lavender and cinnamon. Sweet and slightly syrupy body with flavors reminiscent of scented soaps. Spices, lavender, apple, and cinnamon are all present. Floral aftertaste with some fruity notes. Sort of disjointed aroma versus taste but decent overall.
