Tasting at Backus’ Backyard Bash. Thanks to Dragonstout for the taste! Cherry red pour with a slightly hot dry honey fruit aroma. Taste is slightly hot bitter and dry berry flavors. Nice honey finish. Tasty.

Bottle… Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08… Rose-colored mead. Big-time menthol and smoke phenols with less significant notes of berries and honey. Medium-bodied and a touch oily. Sweet and acidic. Finishes tart, then dry. Muchos kudos to DragonStout for bringing this one to the Throwdown!

Sampled @ Backus’s Backdoor Bash.Poured a nice clear pinkish color.Hints of cherry and vanilla on the nose.Flavor was close to a cherry vanilla soda.Had some nice sweetness to it but as it finished it was slightly tart.Pretty solid mead.

Bottle courtesy of the funess that was Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08. So I had to travel to Florida to try one of my hometown meads! Thanks to Dragonstout for this one. Very nice pink pour. Meads are so pretty in a glass! Nice aroma of cherries and cream. Flavor was kind of like a cherry sucker with a hint of sweet honey. Very nice!

Tasting at mcbackus 10/19. I think we had this one and not the dry one. Reddish pour. Aroma of berries and incense. Flavor is rich and full of berries and reminds me of the ludens cough drops.

Pours pink. Aroma of Cherries, raspberries, and floral notes with hints of vanilla. Sweetness rounds out the flavors of the berries and enhances them. Great for fans of sweeter meads and wines.
