COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Pasteurised.
NOTE: The Cask version has a separate listing.
Black Douglas was a famous Scottish Knight and trusted friend of Robert the Bruce. The Bruce and Black Douglas first met only a few miles from the site of Broughton Ales in the Scottish Borders.
We like to think that the dark ruby colour and the full bodied malt flavour of this ale reflect the power and strength of this great Knight.
Major ingredients are:-
Optic Pale Ale Malt, Crystal Malt and Black Malt. Hops used are English grown Challenger, and First Gold

500ml bottle. Dark, almost black ale but with a slight reddish hue. This is a terrific dark ale with a lovely dry finish. Smooth on the palate and well balanced in terms of flavour. I will definitely buy this one again.

MarkoNm (590) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - JAN 23, 2014
Pours a light brown color, completely clear, with some reddish undertone. About two fingers of white head quickly settles to just a miniature brim around the edge. The aroma is extremely pleasant - chocolatey smell is complemented by some roasted malts and just a little coffee. The creamy taste has the initial bitter kick, but is followed by moderate bitterness and some roastiness as well. There is another bitter kick in the finish.
