rauchbier (3596) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2006
Bottle from Tesco. Deep ruby brown, good lasting pale beige head and gentle condition. Pleasant sweet toffee roasted notes and smokiness in the nose, gentle sweet burnt toffee and low smokiness in the mouth but becoming oversweet and slightly cloying with time, sweet roasted earthiness and faint bitter edge in the finish but ultimately a little over balanced towards sweetness.

BlackHaddock (3506) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
500ml Bottle, best before the end of Dec 2011, poured into a vase shaped ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint glass on 29 Nov 2011. Dark cola coloured body, or a ruby red looking beer if you’d prefer. The head a thin covering of tight bubbles, off-white in colour. Chocolate malty aroma, no hops in the nose that I could find, some pine nut hints though. Strange taste combination, chocolate malts like the smell, with a fizzy pop (coke) flavour in the mix, I’m struggling to describe this too well: but it’s a blend of two brews which to me don’t go together as well as the brewery might have wanted it too. As mentioned above, not sure what the brewer wanted from this beer: interesting, different and drinkable, but just lacking something I can’t put my finger on.

Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 13, 2009
Dark red-brown, coca cola colored with medium sized light brown head. Perfumy licoricy aroma with syrupy note, some bitterness also here. Medium bodied. Flavor is similar with more lemon, licorice and syrupy also here. Lemon in somehow skunky aftertaste. Not a good beer.

50 cl bottle. Dark clear colour with a nice head. Malty aroma with notes of burned caramel. Smooth flavour of malt, caramel and some fruitness. Not much for an old ale.
