Clear orange golden color, short head. Aroma is typical of an english bitter with its english hops. Nice soft bitter taste.

JDW Forest Hill. Good temperature and good condition, but a rather dull golden ale. All that glistens and all that. There's a fragrant citricness here which is almost good, but it's been dumbed down. The malt base is lacklustre. Dull. Enough already.

Hand-pulled at the Briar Rose (Wetherspoons), Birmingham. Yellowish colour, with a thick head. A very soft, flat IPA, with a gentle fruity tang. This has a creeping flavour, which enveloped my tongue - I couldn't quite pin down some of the notes: perhaps aniseed or licorice, with some pear or grapefruit. This didn't have enough crispness for me, and in the end I thought is was just alright.

Pale amber colour. Faint aroma. Wetherspoons don't help by serving it too cold. Some hop character in the palate but, overall, I found this beer very thin and watery. And I like bitters and IPAs. Handpump, Lord Moon of the Mall, Whitehall, London.
