On Handpull @ Coopers Tavern B-O-T. A dark copper coloured ale with a creamy head. Not a great amount of aroma. Full malty palate with lots of subtle roast characters. Trad Scottish Ale, quaffable but not memorable.

On cask at the Guildford Arms. Pours a brown colour with a thick white head. A malty aroma of Weetabix, caramel, chocolate and yeast. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Tasted this in the Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thick creamy white head. Fruity malt in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Mixed malts give a buttery shortbread biscuit note with a fresh green apple bite. Dry spicy hops evident in the resiny, bitter aftertaste. Good balance of malt and hops in the bitter sweet finish. Reminded me of a strong version of Greenmantle. A robust session export.

Cask at SRAF ’11. Copper pour, tiny head. Quite a rich nose, chocolate and something grassy. Slightly watery palate, slightly grassy with a resinous finish. Maybe something red fruit-ish. Forgettable.

Cask at the ’Grape and Grain’ beer festival, Crystal Palace. Copper colour with a white head. Malt and raisin aromas with a little smoke. Malts, light spices and a little chocolate in the flavour. Dry, light bitter finish.

Cask @ Tass as their Tass house beer. Dark garnet. Stable head. Tangy fruit and the acidity of sour wine. Soft palate. Sour wine, then nice bread malts, then sour wine yeast. Probably hasn’t been kept well.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Light amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is slightly caramel, toffee. Flavour is caramel malts, very sour malty, fruity. Strange sour and sweet. Yuck.
