Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Black, slight brown head. Malty aroma is nice and strong. Little thin. Nice and roasted. Not too malty not drying. Sweet that lingers well. Smooth, gets dryer.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml courtesy of Bill Parish many thanks. Very dark brown with tan head. Reasonable stout, nice roasted malt notes, dark and earthy with a nutty sweet character to it. Finishes just a touch thin, but overall decent enough.

500ml bottle that pours a nice mahogany coloured body under a light brown head, slowly diminishing. Smell of roasted grain. Chocolaty and coffee maltiness together with oatmeal in flavour. Finish of with a peaty touch [bottle from Luvians in St Andrews, 27.10.2008].

Poured a very dark brown color that was nearly black with a nice tan head that dissipated fairly quickly. Aroma was of roasted malt and hints of peat. Flavor was like aroma with the roasted malts flavor and hints of peat, chocolate and the malt sweetness coming through. Mouthfeel was good, though not as silky as some stouts. Drinkability was good.

Kinmount Willie, 500ml bottle. Roasty malt aroma, full of chocolate and toast, along with lighter notes of dark fruits, coffee and tobacco. Black in color with dark brown highlights and a lasting, fine, creamy head. Flavor is nicely toasted and darkly malty, with more chocolate and smoked, roasty flavors, a certain tangy dark fruitiness and raisin quality, finishing dry, grainy and a bit ashy. Thin and moderately low in effervescence, with a fairly light body and very drinkable character, though not impressively complex by any means.
